Course Description:

Conquering the Posterior Maxilla – Minimally Invasive Approach
The pneumatization of the maxillary sinus and rapid resorption of the alveolar ridge following tooth loss leaves very little possibility for placing implants in the posterior maxilla. Various surgical techniques have been suggested in literature to augment the deficient sites crestally and achieve vertical augmentation of the posterior maxilla to enable implant placement keeping in mind the principles of prosthetically driven treatment planning. The recent advances in armamentarium and biomaterials has put this procedure within the reach of most implant dentists thus enabling them to offer better treatment options to their patients.

The didactics will detail the indications, surgical techniques, grafting biomaterials, limitations and complications of the maxillary sinus augmentation procedure. Hands-on will be done on models with participants doing a complete sinus crestal elevation.
