Chu's Aesthetic Guages: Crown Lengthening
The Crown Lengthening Gauge has the Biologic Periogauge (BLPG) tip on one end and the Papilla tip on the opposite end. The BLPG tip is used to achieve the propermid-facial clinical crown and biologic crown (osseous crest to incisal edge position) length during surgical crown lengthening procedures. The Papilla tip follows the use of the BLPG tip to establish the correct aesthetic position of the interdental papilla fromthe incisal edge before the flap is closed and sutured.

A Technique for Surgical Mandibular Exostosis Removal

A Technique for Surgical Mandibular Exostosis Removal
Exostosis, a slow-growing, benign bony outgrowth, is a common clinical finding and not usually an issue with patients. However, when removable prosthetics must sit either adjacent to or over these areas, pressure, food abrasion, ulceration, or limited tongue space can occur. This article describes a surgical technique for exdsion of exostosis through the presentation of a case. The Socket-Shield Technique: First Histological, Clinical, and Volumetrical Observations after Separation of the Buccal Tooth Segment – A Pilot Study

The Socket-Shield Technique: First Histological, Clinical, and Volumetrical Observations after Separation of the Buccal Tooth Segment – A Pilot Study
The “socket-shield technique” has shown its potential in preserving buccal tissues. However, front teeth often have to be extracted due to vertical fractures in buccolingual direction. It has not yet been investigated if the socket-shield technique can only be used with intact roots or also works with a modified shield design referring to vertical fracture lines. The aim of this study was to assess histologically, clinically, and volumetrically the effect of separating the remaining buccal root segment in two pieces before immediate implant placement.

The Surgical-Restorative Digital Work Flow In Comprehensive Therapy Premium Member Content

The Surgical-Restorative Digital Work Flow In Comprehensive Therapy
Traditional methods of treating our patients are being been replaced by digital processes, impacting our daily life. The intake of various technologies such as CBCT imaging, scanning, digital restorative design and CAD/CAM production have contributed to this movement. In the same time, restorative materials have also been developed and studied that have improved strength and esthetic qualities. All these capabilities create opportunities for better restorative outcome.

The Interdisciplinary Software Platform. The Key For Modern Digital Dentistry
The starting point of a facially driven interdisciplinary dental treatment plan is "The Smile Frame". A few crucial photos and steps will come together to create the ultimate template you need to communicate to your dental team, colleagues, and the patient to ultimately increase case acceptance and create the most aesthetic and functional method of rehabilitation to your patient. We will discuss how this paradigm shift of regular analog dentistry has shifted to this modern digital world and the benefits it provides. The protocol proposed will improve the diagnosis, communication and predictability of esthetic rehabilitation, from simple implant or restorative cases to complex cases, combining perio, ortho, and othognathic surgery. Emphasis will be given to the utilization of digital tools to enhance and facilitate the Dentist/Technician interaction and communication with the patient.

Horizontal Augmentation Through the Ridge-Split Procedure: A Predictable Surgical Modality in Implant Reconstruction Premium Member Content

Horizontal Augmentation Through the Ridge-Split Procedure: A Predictable Surgical Modality in Implant Reconstruction
The need for an adequate alveolar ridge width has been a long-standing principle in pre-prosthetic surgery. Since the introduction of root-form endosseous dental implants, the necessity of proper alveolar ridge width has become essential. In this presentation, the author concentrated on the ridge-split procedure (RSP) as a form of a ridge modification (widening or augmentation), the technique that offers many possibilities and has many advantages in oral pre-prosthetic implant reconstruction. There are many modifications of the RSP. This presentation is a description of classical ridge-split procedure in maxilla and mandible that has been successfully employed for many years in author’s surgical practice.
