Summary:

Optimizing Anterior Esthetics with Immediate Implant Placement and a Fixed Provisional Restoration

Optimizing Anterior Esthetics with Immediate Implant Placement and a Fixed Provisional Restoration
Implant placement immediately after tooth extraction, followed by an immediate provisional restoration of a single dental implant, provides significant benefits compared with traditional delayed protocols. Patients are not burdened with cumbersome removable interim prostheses, osseous anatomy may be preserved, sulcular form is optimized before definitive restoration, soft tissue has matured before implant integration, fewer surgical interventions are required, and treatment time is accelerated.…

Management of Periodontal Complications: Science vs. Hype Premium Member Content

Management of Periodontal Complications: Science vs. Hype
The dental implant therapy has evolved both in implant surface and design. The reason for the initial crestal bone loss has been proven and the risks of having a peri-implantitis have increased due to the early exposure of roughened surface. The prevalence of peri-implantitis is at a range of 28 to 56%. The role of dental professionals nowadays is to know how to interpret the signs of inflammation and establish the diagnosis of peri-implantitis, which is the most challenging, and be able to treat it properly since this is becoming a more needed therapy.

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics Premium Member Content

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics
The principle focus of implant dentistry has changed significantly from the era of ‘Anatomically driven implant placement’ to the current practice of ‘Restoration driven implant placement’. When we now look at the failing dentition in the aesthetic zone we now must immediately consider conversion to implants. We are continually seeking greater control of the peri-implant tissues and ultimately the aesthetics of the restoration. Implant/abutment designs allow us to consider immediate implant replacement, and immediate non-functional loading especially in the aesthetic zone, where preservation of hard and soft tissue is of paramount importance in order follow the principles of aesthetics by maintaining the elements which are already there
