Title: Connective Tissue Attachment to Dental Implants - Pt 1
Description: In Part 1 of this series, Dr. Myron Nevins presents new and significant research on the role that the micro-geometry of the implant surface at the neck of the implant can play on maintaining soft tissue integrity and health. Dr. Nevins specifically outlines the properties and advantages of new Laser-Lok microchannels at the neck of the implant industry. In addition, he details the histologic comparison of soft tissue attachment between this new implant surface and a natural tooth surface.

An incredible finding by Dr. Nevins and his team. Oblique connective tissue fiber insertion onto an implant surface is a tremendous benefit to long term tissue and bone stability. Human histological evidence of this oblique fiber attachment has never before been shown in the literature. The long term esthetic importance of such an occurrence is obvious. Laser microchannels may become the standard in the future of implant microgeometry. I continue to wait for similar literature regarding "platform switching" and biological width with other implant designs. If anyone is interested in reading the article it is posted on this site for pdf download.
Well worth it.
