Connective Tissue Attachment to Dental Implants - Pt 1
Description:
In Part 1 of this series, Dr. Myron Nevins presents new and significant research on the role that the micro-geometry of the implant surface at the neck of the implant can play on maintaining soft tissue integrity and health. Dr. Nevins specifically outlines the properties and advantages of new Laser-Lok microchannels at the neck of the implant industry. In addition, he details the histologic comparison of soft tissue attachment between this new implant surface and a natural tooth surface.

It is just amazing how far you guys go, I am 24 from Spain and working in the uk and unfortunately when I talk about biological width most of my colleagues look at me as if I was crazy (I would not even dare to talk about the horizontal component; yes, I may have to change environment), being this a little bit frustrating. Dentalxp is just such a motivation and to see how much you care about evidence based dentistry is just inspirational. Thank you to share all this info with us, I am actually doing a PG certif in the UK and everything they say I know better from you. The best 250$ I have ever spent.

An incredible finding by Dr. Nevins and his team. Oblique connective tissue fiber insertion onto an implant surface is a tremendous benefit to long term tissue and bone stability. Human histological evidence of this oblique fiber attachment has never before been shown in the literature. The long term esthetic importance of such an occurrence is obvious. Laser microchannels may become the standard in the future of implant microgeometry. I continue to wait for similar literature regarding "platform switching" and biological width with other implant designs. If anyone is interested in reading the article it is posted on this site for pdf download. Well worth it.

Alveolar Ridge Regenerative Strategies: Autogenous Bone vs BMP-2
This clinical based presentation will compare the use of autogenous bone vs BMP-2 for alveolar ridge reconstruction. The science, indications, advantages and disadvantages of each approach will be featured. Single tooth to full arch reconstruction cases will also be shown along with understanding the application of non-resorbable vs resorbable mesh barriers for alveolar ridge reconstruction.

Immediate Loading of Osseotitie Implants-After 4 months
A growing number of clinical reports show that early and immediate loading of endosseous implants may lead to predictable osseointegration; however, these studies provide mostly short- to mid-term results based only on clinical mobility and radiographic observation. Other methods are needed to detect the possible presence of a thin fibrous interposition of tissue that could increase in the course of time and lead to clinical mobility. A histologic evaluation was performed on two immediately loaded…

Instrumentation for Modern Day Implant Surgery
Public awareness of the aesthetic possibilities through the replacement of missing or nonsalvageable teeth has been elevated with advances in dental implant therapy and related hard and soft tissue regenerative therapies. This has led to an increase in the fabrication of fixed prostheses supported by either natural teeth, dental implants, or removable prostheses anchored by implants rather than conventional tissue- or tooth-supported partial dentures.

Immediate Loading of Bilaterally Splinted Titanium Root-Form Implants in Fixed Prosthodontics
A load-free healing period has been advocated as a prerequisite to achieving osseointegration. This article reports two cases in which immediate loading of a specially designated additional or "expendable" set of titanium root-form implants was successfully utilized to support provisional fixed restorations in the maxilla and the mandible. This immediate-loading protocol is suggested as a reliable adjunctive therapeutic modality for offering implant patients access to fixed interim restorations…
