Surgical Protocols for Socket Type 2 in the Aesthetic Zone
The topic of this presentation is an implant surgical procedures for a socket type 2 (socket missing buccal bone) in an aesthetic area, with emphasis on modified IVAN* technique for socket preservation. IVAN* stands for inter-positional vascularised augmentation neogenesis.
Author`s guidelines for selection of appropriate surgical protocols for sockets missing buccal bone wall, protocols that are proved to be most effective, are presented. Early implant placement with GBR, prosthetic socket preservation and socket augmentation with socket sealing are shortly presented as alternatives for some cases. From author modified IVAN technique is shown step by step.
Restorative vs. Orthodontic Therapy; Alternative Management and Lab-Dentist Communication
Patients often refuse orthodontic realignment and correction due to the length of treatment required even if it may be the best or most conservative therapy. In same cases, patients will get anxious about having metal or even invisible ceramic braces in their mouth for even a short period of time. On other hand, cosmetic dentistry is able to satisfy the patients with the same needs by using porcelain-veneers as an alternative to orthodontics treatment. This presentation describes a patient who has rejected orthodontic therapy but continues to seek a improved cosmetic result. Porcelain veneers and crowns were an appropriate alternative in this case. Follow-ups of treatment display a successful cosmetic and functional result.
Successful Composite Resin Restorations - Part 1 of 2
Amalgam has been a durable successful dental restorative material; however this material has recently come under question due to its mercury content and disposal. Composite resin materials range from flowable to highly filled condensable type viscosities. There are many factors that influence the success of posterior composite resin restorations. This presentation will identify the factors that limit success (size, patient type, caries risk, shrinkage, curing light) and the materials that can be successfully used to restore posterior teeth. Beginning with flowable materials and their clinical application the presentation will discuss the open sandwich technique, use of flowable posterior restorations, sectional matrices and fluoride, calcium and phosphate releasing materials.
RUBBERDAMology: Tips and Tricks With Isolation
It is well known that all dental work must be under full control by operator. We always try to do our best during root canal treatment, or placing composite restorations, or luting bonded ceramic constructions. We pay a lot of attention to details and procedures, learn all new aspects of operative dentistry, follow all steps and protocols but… some time do waist our invaluable time due to challenging with moisture – saliva, bleeding, tongue, chicks, lips that are often on our way to reach the goal. And this competition is always more stressful then other most important components. Fortunately we have got great assistant for this “dirty” job that gives us stress-free conditions of working, saves our time and health and gives best ergonomics. It is rubberdam. During our lecture we will open all secrets how to use this most helpful system in operative dentistry controlling our main task – treatment.
All-On-Four Implant Protocol- Fad or Phenomena
The All-on-Four protocol uses fewer implants, generally four implants that are placed at mechanical inclinations to maximize support in the fabrication of fixed implant supported prosthetics in fully edentulous patients. The use of angled implant placement allows the clinician to avoid encroachment of anatomic structures such as the sinus, nasal floor or mandibular canal that may make vertical placement difficult or impossible without significant grafting of deficient sites. This webinar with Dr. George Duello and Dr. Maurice Salma will discuss the various treatment options available today for this patient segment and emphasize when and where the All-On-Four protocol can be successfully utilized to eliminate the need for costly augmentation procedures and months of healing time.
