Summit by the Sea Focusing on Tissue Wellness in Implant Dentistry
Dedicated dentists, specialists and presenters from around the globe converged on the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Florida June 25 – 28 to participate in the North American Summit by the Sea hosted by DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties.
Summit participants focused on tissue wellness in implant dentistry and the long-term esthetic effects while enjoying the relaxed learning environment at the renowned resort. Attendees enjoyed an emphasis on clinical concepts, paying particular attention to:
- understanding how control of the tissue form, thickness and color can be achieved to create an esthetic implant supported restoration.
- exploring how the coordination of the implant design, abutment/implant interface and the final restoration impact the esthetic outcome.
- demonstrating how a narrow body, two-piece internally hexed implant, combined with immediate provisionalization can produce functional, stable esthetic results.
- evaluating the scientific evidence for mechanical and biologic stability comprising the “tissue care” concept.
- assessing how the understanding of soft and hard tissue preservation, the biomechanical implant tissue stability and the impact of implant micro/macro design features combine to create a functional and esthetic outcome even for the most demanding patients.
The scientific program was developed by Drs. Dennis Tarnow and David Garber in cooperation with DENTSPLY.
Summit presenters included Drs. Marco Degidi, Nicolas Elian, Alan Fetner, David Garber, Peter Gehrke, Barry Goldenberg, Todd Lundgren, Adriano Piatelli, Georgios Romanos, Henry Salama, Maurice Salama, Nigel Saynor, Dennis Tarnow, Paolo Trisi, Paul Weigl and Dietmar Weng.
