3D Optical Scanning Protocols in Immediate Implant Loading: From the Scan to Plan to Delivery

Description:
This video will highlight the critical and evolving role of Dual Scanning in Immediate tooth replacement and loading in the posterior maxilla. Optical Scanning of the model will be superimposed upon the CBCT Digital Scan of the patient's Maxilla to produce an ideal Surgiguide for surgical placement and immediate temporization. Materialise and Expertease software and surgical kits are utilized to perform the surgery without the need of flap reflection. Precision of the components utilized will highlight the accuracy in placement in all three dimensions including the critically important vertical placement of the fixture head. Utilization of the 3D software and then management of the surgical use of the guides and components will be clearly displayed as well as the restorative transition from guide to immediate temporary restoration.

THIS IS TOMORROWS IMPLANT DENTISTRY EXCELLENT PRECISE

henry salama - (3/15/2012 9:38 AM)

In this partially edentulous case, the temporary provisionals are kept out of contact by 1mm in centric and all excursive movements. Therefore, even with a bruxer, if they can't touch their teeth they can't do any harm. The cases which are more challenging with bruxers are the full edentulous cases where any fixed provisionals have to be in contact. For these we try to keep a shallow/flat cusp form and excursive profile and of course bilateral splinting.

hello dr salama and thank you for an excelent presentation. the patient seems to be a heacy bruxer. is this a concern to you in this particular immediate temporization case?

Maurice Salama - (3/12/2012 5:43 PM)

Mohammed, Farhan and Marc and friends; Optical scan of model is easier and less expensive than intra-oral scanners. These are then superimposed upon the CBCT Scan and made into 3D as you see here in this video. The temp was left out of occlusion for 2 months and then final bridge made. There are many companies offering Optical scan technology. It is the future of dentistry. Thanks to all Dr. Salama

Mohammed Wael Saleh - (3/12/2012 4:09 PM)

Thanks Maurice , do you think that CT scanning of the model is better than optucal scanning> I use Dual CT scanning for all my cases.

Charles Botbol - (3/11/2012 4:36 PM)

Excellent video and narrative!!!!

FARHAN DURRANI492 - (3/11/2012 2:55 PM)

dear dr salama ,digital scanning of model and fabrication of guide looks most advanced program for implants placement

marc nacar - (3/11/2012 1:44 AM)

Thank you Maurice for this video. I have 2 questions: 1. which open optical scanner do you suggest to use. 2. is your temporary bridge in occlusion or out of occlusion? thank you. Marc

Arturo Meijueiro - (3/9/2012 8:41 PM)

Maurice, excelent treatment using the newest 3D technology, how can i get to the dentist in Mexico, the cost of technology is expensive and limits to some sector of the people, it´s a dream for the most of the dentist in my town, congratulations for your excelent work here in Dental XP, Dr. Arturo Meijueiro

Optimizing Tissue Esthetics of Single Tooth Implants
With optimized planning, precise placement of the fixture, and the use of laser technology to reduce tissue trauma we can minimize the bone and tissue changes during the surgical phase. During the restorative phase creation of proper tissue contours using the CO2 laser and control of tooth form to position tissue set the stage for obtaining optimal esthetic results.

Tissue Engineering and Platelet Derived Growth Factors: Evidence Based Therapy
Platelet derived growth factors are now routinely utilized in reconstructive therapy. This presentation describes very detailed and evidence based guidelines for clinicians interested in enhancing their abilities in tissue engineering, especially as it relates to bone augmentation. Specifically, while successful bone augmentation requires the standard surgical parameters of space maintenance, low pressure on the grafts and tension-free flap closure, optimization of this goal requires management and enhancement of the local biological conditions with growth factors. Towards that end, platelet concentrates through the constant release of growth factors are able to promote and enhance new vascularization, provide plasma protein, normal lipidemia, as well as increased collagen and fibrin activity.

Instrumentation for Modern Day Implant Surgery
Public awareness of the aesthetic possibilities through the replacement of missing or nonsalvageable teeth has been elevated with advances in dental implant therapy and related hard and soft tissue regenerative therapies. This has led to an increase in the fabrication of fixed prostheses supported by either natural teeth, dental implants, or removable prostheses anchored by implants rather than conventional tissue- or tooth-supported partial dentures.

Systematic Review of Survival Rates for Immediately Loaded Dental Implants
The primary goal of this paper was to determine the survival rate of immediately loaded (IL) dental implants based on a systematic review of the literature. Secondary goals were to determine the influence of several factors on the implant survival rate, such as the type of reconstruction, implant location, and implant surface characteristics. An electronic search of databases was performed, in addition to a hand search of the most relevant journals. All relevant articles were independently screened…
