The Advantages of the Root Submergence Technique (RST) for Pontic Site Enhancement part 2
Description:
By maintaining the natural tooth root through the root submergence technique (RST) we are better able to preserve a much greater amount of surrounding tissue than the more commonly used socket preservation technique. RST maintains the natural attachment apparatus of the tooth in the pontic site which in turn allows for complete preservation of the alveolar bone frame and creates a more esthetic result in multiple tooth replacement cases.

Bruce; Your idea works too BUT we have followed our cases now out 10 + years without a SINGLE episode of a Vital Retained root losing vitality and needing to be removed?? Yes, always open for discussion. Thanks for the interaction. That's what makes this site so special. Regards and good luck Dr. Salama

Submerged roots are a good idea but why take the chance of retained vitality
Why not do a quick Endo and sleep easier your not going to have to remove the prosthesis in a few years to access the roots
Eg. 20 min rct versus 2 hour removal, upset pt ,etc..
Nice article but worth discussion

Improving Implant Framework
Passive fit of implant frameworks is related in part to the accuracy of the mastercast. A method of fabricating a verification stent to check the accuracy of the master cast prior to waxing and casting the implant framework is discussed. The methods utilize routinely available materials and do not require any special instrumentation or equipment. The stent can be fabricated either by the laboratory or the dentist.
