Apical Mattress Suture: Prevention of "Oxidative Stress" of Bone & Soft Tissue

Description:
It’s impossible to heal well and fast when the tissue is in oxidative stress.. It occurs when there is an excess of oxidants or deficiency of antioxidants: smokers and diabetics have issues because they are in chronic oxidative stress... Tension free flap closure in mandatory. Otherwise, soft tissue and bone will fall in oxidative stress. The solution is to suture the flaps with an adequate technique. In this presentation, we show how to achieve soft tissue immobility and fixed buccal flap. How to manage the sutures? When to remove them? What’s the best material? How to handle a flat knot and the following knots? How to increase the soft tissue thickness? etc… All details and clinical follow-up are described in this short presentation.

Implant Removal Made Easy - When Peri-implantitis Treament is Not Possible
In this video and surgical presentation, Dr. Eduardo Anitua demonstrates a step-by-step safe, efficient and predictable surgical/mechanical technique for the removal of implants that are severely compromised by peri-implantitis. In addition, Dr. Anitua will discuss how to manage the regeneration of the site following implant removal through the therapeutic utilization of plasma rich in growth factors, i.e. Endoret.

Controlled Ridge Splitting (CRS)
To demonstrate a new technique of controlled ridge splitting (CRS) in severely atrophied maxillary cases as an alternative to autogenous block graft. Twenty cases were completed using a controlled ridge splitting (CRS) technique with a total of 65 implants were placed in severely atrophied Maxillae and followed after the implants were loaded. Results: The CRS technique was used in very complex cases, where the alternative method will be autogenous block graft. A total of 65 tapered implants were placed. The implants diameter ranged between 3.25-5mm with a length ranged between 10-13mm. The implants were restored and were followed for 1-3 years. All implants achieved osseointegration and continue to have successful prostheses. Conclusion: The CRS is a predictable treatment option and could be a good alternative to autogenous block grafts is severely atrophic maxillae.

The Surgical-Restorative Digital Work Flow In Comprehensive Therapy
Traditional methods of treating our patients are being been replaced by digital processes, impacting our daily life. The intake of various technologies such as CBCT imaging, scanning, digital restorative design and CAD/CAM production have contributed to this movement. In the same time, restorative materials have also been developed and studied that have improved strength and esthetic qualities. All these capabilities create opportunities for better restorative outcome. This presentation will highlight a practice-based model centered on digitally enhanced treatment for efficient and predictable esthetic restorative outcomes.

Next Generation Biomaterials for Bone and Periodontal Regeneration - Part 1 of 2
New and innovative biomaterials are being discovered or created in laboratories at an unprecedented rate, but many entirely unknown to practicing clinicians. This course addresses this gap in knowledge by summarizing some of the groundbreaking research performed to date on this topic and provides case examples of these biomaterials at work. The course begins with a review of the biologic background and applications of bone grafting materials utilized in dentistry. Thereafter, new and exciting updates on Platelet Rich Fibrin, Emdogain/Osteogain, Tetranite and Vitamin D deficiency are discussed with respect to their ability to promote either bone or periodontal regeneration.

Dental implant, periodontal , and oral surgical procedures or any potentially hemorrhagic procedures put the practitioner and staff at risk for exposure to blood-borne viruses (eg, AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C), as well as saliva and blood-transmitted pathogens (eg, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Staphyloccus, Streptococcus, cytomegalovirus). There are also a number of viruses that may infect the upper respiratory tract. In these cases, infections may be transmitted through direct contact with blood…

Standard protocols for suturing have been developed for the positioning and securing of surgical flaps to promote optimal healing. Parts 1 and 2 of this article discussed the indications for a variely of suturing techniques, including the periosteal suture technique, the simple look modification of interrupted suture technique, and several continuous suture techniques. Vertical mattress sutures, coronally repositioned mattress sutures, horizontal mattress sutures, and vertical sling mattress sutures…

The “Scalloped Guide”: A Proof-of-Concept Technique for a Digitally Streamlined, Pink-Free Full-Arch Implant Protocol
Inadequate restorative space can result in mechanical, biologic, and esthetic complications with full-arch fixed implant-supported prosthetics. As such, clinicians often reduce bone to create clearance. The aim of this paper was to present a protocol using stacking computer-aided design/computerassisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM) guides to minimize and accurately obtain the desired bone reduction, immediately place prosthetically guided implants, and load a provisional that replicates predetermined tissue contour. This protocol can help clinicians minimize bone reduction and place the implants in an ideal position that allows them to emerge from the soft tissue interface with a natural, pink-free zirconia fixed dental prostheses.
