Dr. Salama; Thanks for letting us all peek in on your procedure in your office. You all seem so relaxed. Would you perform these procedures the same way today as you did back then? How about remodelling, ridge contraction and tissue thickness? Which side performed best? I am a big fan and thank you for all your efforts. Sam

Justin, John, and Robert;
Thanks for your interest and comments. Yes, John the CTG graft will heal well even with a healing abutment placed as long as you gain tension free closure. As for follow up, we will post follow up of this case on the dental forum next week.
Keep checking and thanks Dr. Salama

It appears you placed a healing abutement on #10, do you expect the connective tissue graft to heal over this? It seems very unlikely and therefore why even bother to place it in that position.

Drs. Salama and Garber, I just wanted to tell you both what a great educational video that you presented here. It was a great benefit to watch before I went to battle replacing congenitally missing #7 yesterday. Thanks!!! Robert Pauley Jr. DMD

Randy;
It is real life afterall. I like the line about going trick or treating with my kids. BTW, the long term post-op of this case is now available and I will post these in the near future. The grafted site did much better than the non-grafted site which leads me to how I treat most cases in the future.
happy memorial day

In addition, several techniques are demonstrated to make patient management through this process more efficient. As Dr. Stanley states" the challenges of getting it right are many but avoiding complications is vital to the success of our daily practice.

Optimizing Tissue Esthetics of Single Tooth Implants
With optimized planning, precise placement of the fixture, and the use of laser technology to reduce tissue trauma we can minimize the bone and tissue changes during the surgical phase. During the restorative phase creation of proper tissue contours using the CO2 laser and control of tooth form to position tissue set the stage for obtaining optimal esthetic results.

Instrumentation for Modern Day Implant Surgery
Public awareness of the aesthetic possibilities through the replacement of missing or nonsalvageable teeth has been elevated with advances in dental implant therapy and related hard and soft tissue regenerative therapies. This has led to an increase in the fabrication of fixed prostheses supported by either natural teeth, dental implants, or removable prostheses anchored by implants rather than conventional tissue- or tooth-supported partial dentures.
