En la actualidad, los objetivos de la odontología han ido evolucionado a partir de las necesidades y las demandas de los procesos quirúrgicos, así como por los defectos o lesiones del periodonto, sobretodo cuando intervienen factores estéticos, donde se requieren restauraciones prostodónticas con aspectos naturales, que busquen un equilibrio armónico entre la arquitectura gingival y el rostro en sí del paciente, aún más en los casos donde se presenta sonrisa gingival. Es por esto que se han estudiado varias técnicas mucogingivales para recubrimientos de recesiones, cambios de color por biótopo muy fino, aumento de volumen por pérdida del contorno gingival y colapso de los tejidos duros y blandos; siendo la más estudiada el injerto de tejido conectivo, como mecanismo de compensación y estabilidad para contribuir a una sonrisa más armónica y bella a la hora de la rehabilitación con implantes en el área anterior.

Buccal Sliding Palatal Pedicle Flap Technique for Wound Closure After Ridge Augmentation
One standard approach for wound closure after ridge augmentation is coronal flap advancement. Coronal flap advancement results in displacement of the mucogingival junction and reduction of the vestibulum. In the maxilla, a buccal sliding palatal flap can be applied for primary wound closure after ridge augmentation. The dissected part of the palatal connective tissue is left exposed thus eliminating or reducing the amount of the coronal flap advancement respectively and increasing amount of keratinized gingiva. In combination with guided soft tissue augmentation, this flap design enables a three-dimensional peri-implant soft tissue augmentation.

Clinicians must be aware of patient expectations when planning dental treatment. When full mouth reconstruction is planned, it is very important to satisfy such expectations in order to provide successful treatment. Patients are often concerned about the cost and duration of treatment, and the pain, esthetics, comfort, and function after treatment. However, we cannot assure longevity unless the treatment has a scientific basis. During reconstruction or restoration, we generally remove and replace the existing crowns. Secondary caries are mostly detected on removal of these. Due to the caries, the ferrule and tooth thickness are not adequate; and frequently, the condition may not be suitable for prosthetic treatment. Today aesthetics has become the main reason for dental consultation. The appearance and shape of soft tissues are an essential part of achieving smile balance and harmony. In recent years, the use of lasers has evolved significantly in periodontal plastic surgery, due to its applications, such as; the ability to offer treatments without sutures, minor tissue damage, minor bleeding and therefore promote faster tissue recovery. This time we used GEMINI Ultradent double wavelength diode laser, from 810nm to 980nm, super pulsed with a power of up to 20 watts; improving coagulation performance and providing a faster and more precise cut than other diode lasers.

Tooth extraction is usually followed by the resorption of support tissues that may compromise the aesthetic and functional prognosis of the final rehabilitation. There have been numerous publications suggesting Partial Extraction Therapies contribute to the maintenance of the alveolar ridge dimensions. These techniques consist in intentionally preserving a buccal root fragment in order to avoid tearing the periodontal ligament and loosing the bundle bone, which leads to bone resorption. It has been reported that these are very sensitive techniques and may lead to some complications. In order to avoid these complications, the dental surgeon must know which cases can be treated with Partial Extraction Therapies and how to correctly perform them. In these presentations we will show what are the indications and contraindications, how to perform these techniques, the literature that sustains it, how can we benefit from digital technology to today's world, etc.

Biologic Width Adjacent to Loaded Implant with Machined and Rough Collars in the Dog
Dental implant surface technology has evolved from a relatively smooth machined implant surface for osseointegration to more roughened osteoconductive surfaces. Recent studies suggest that peri-implant soft tissue inflammation with progressive bone loss (ie peri-implantitis) is becoming a prevalent condition. One possibility that could explain sucha a finding is that more bacterial plaque forms on the roughened implant and abutment surfaces, which may result in the peri-implant inflammation if the soft tissues. This study compared 36 tissue-level implants with a machined transmucosal collar to 36 implants with a relatively roughened transmucosal surface in the dog. The results demonstrated that the connective tissue contact was similar between the two implant types but that the junctional epithelium and biologic width dimensions were greater around the implants with the machined collars...
