Composite - The Ultimate Material for Minimally Invasive Dentistry - Part 1 of 3

Description:
Composite is the most versatile material we have in modern, aesthetic restorative dentistry. It can be used for direct restorations in anterior and posterior teeth, cements, post and cores, build-up material, attachment for orthodontics, and temporary or prototype restorations. It is universal, easy to manipulate, has good strength and exhibits optical properties when layered properly that revivals natural tooth structure. This program will focus on Class I, II and IV direct restorations. Discussion will include pearls from a clinician who has relied on adhesive dentistry and composite materials for over 25 years in his full-time private practice in Beverly Hills, California.

Full Arch Minimally Invasive Direct Composite Smile Makeover
Dr. Richard Coates shares with us the step by step methodology of increasing vertical dimension in a 27 year old with severe erosion, and then the steps he took to restore this very difficult case from posterior teeth to anterior. He details all steps taken through to finishing and polishing of the direct bonded composite restorations. The Kois occlusal deprogrammer was key to success in this case and fabrication and features of the deprogrammer are also explained in this webinar.

The Centripetal Build-Up for Composite Resin Posterior Restorations
This paper introduces a new technique for creating Class II posterior composite restorations - the centripetal build-up. This technique replaces the lost tooth structure from the periphery towards the center of the cavity, thereby achieving better marginal adaptation to the gingival floor. Since overfilling is rare, rotary finishing is minimized. This method allows the creation of long-term aesthetic posterior composite restorations, while utilizing conventional auxiliary (ie, metal matrix bands…

Planning & Finishing Techniques

Planning & Finishing Techniques
Longevity and optimal aesthetics are critical aspects to consider when planning for direct composite resin restorations. While strength, wear resistance, and superior micromechanical retention are typically associated with functional durability, during the planning stage clinicians must equally consider aesthetic longevity, which includes retension of the original morphology, color stability, stain resistance, and marginal adaptation. To ensure optimum results for direct composite resin restorations,…
