Digital Smile Design and 3D Printing of Treatment Provisionals in Modern Dental Practice

Description:
The DSD Concept 2D is the portal to Digital Dentistry and Digital Workflow. Utilizing Facial Aesthetics as a starting point and ending with a functional, aesthetic and emotionally fulfilling Smile designed with Natural Algorithms via Keynote and translated via a DSD Planning Center into a 3D printed Wax-Up, or Full Arch Implant Guides and Conversion Smile. DSD protocol is special in that it fosters True “Team Synergy” between the Restorative Dentist to Laboratory and Specialist. This results in more predictable treatment outcomes from simple Smile Cases to Full Mouth Rehabilitations involving natural teeth to dental implants. Finally, by learning DSD’s unique connection to the Emotional component of Dentistry, you will gain skills on how to Consult, Present, and Gain High Levels of Case Acceptance.

Thank you for the excellent presentation. For your last full-arch implant case, what planning software do you use to read the CT images and plan for the surgical guides? And which manufacturer or lab do you use to make the surgical guide, bone reduction guide, and the transitional prosthesis? Thank you Joey

Computer-Guided Applications Beyond Implants: Bone Grafting and Reconstructive Surgery
Technology has facilitated the diagnosis and treatment planning process allowing clinicians to become true architects and engineers of the oral cavity. Replacing missing teeth with an implant supported restoration represents both a surgical and restorative challenge due to bony defects / concavities, soft tissue concerns, emergence profile, and insufficient bone volume or bone density to stabilize an implant. The evolution of three-dimensional imaging modalities (CBCT) produces an unprecedented visualization of patient’s individual anatomy, which empowers the clinician with new state-of-the-art tools to diagnose and treatment plan with greater accuracy to manage the surgical site, increase precision, reduce patient morbidity, and avoid potential complications.

Facial Rejuvenation: Using Botox & Fillers as Support of the Oral Rehabilitation & Lips Enhancement
In general the population have been associating the use of Botox & Fillers just as an aesthetic treatment on the derm to avoid wrinkles of aging. It is very important to understand that the Onabotulinum toxin A will take effect in the muscular plane, not in the epiderm and neither in the derm, its actuation is to block the release of a neurotransmitter necessary for muscles contraction. The result will be the inhibition of undesirable movements and reduction of strength and potency on the muscles, what can help on the treatment of parafunctional disorders and also improve the conditions for immediate loading in implant dentistry. The Dental losses, alveolar ridge atrophies and loss of vertical dimension contribute significantly to the aging process of the face and the perioral region, so it is essential for dentists to have the knowledge of the use of fillers in association with oral rehabilitation, improving the aesthetics and self-esteem of their patients.

The Smile Design Revolution - Management, Communication and Implementation
Treatment planning a full mouth rehabilitation is amazingly challenging. So many options and steps must be coordinated and controlled to achieve a successful outcome. Developing the Smile Design is just the starting point. Carefully integrating this design to function is the key. This presentation will show how this process is a complex brainstorm that needs to be guided by logical and rational steps to achieve consistent and predictable solutions.

CBCT in Endodontics: Changing the Landscape of Diagnosis and Clinical Treatment
Radiographic imaging is essential in the diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up in endodontics. The interpretation of an image can be confounded by a number of factors, including the regional anatomy as well as superimposition of both the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. As a result of superimposition, periapical radiographs reveal only limited aspects, a 2-dimensional view, of the true three dimensional anatomy. Additionally, there is often geometric distortion of the anatomical structures being imaged with conventional radiographic methods. These problems can be overcome by utilizing small or limited volume cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging techniques which produce accurate 3-dimensional images of the teeth and surrounding dento-alveolar structures. This presentation will highlight the indications, advantages and considerations of the use of CBCT in endodontics.

Multitasking Digital Dentistry - Part 1 of 2
The "Digital Smile Design" is a technique codified and published in 2011 by Christian Coachman and Marcelo Calamita. This approach has radically changed the way we analyze the aesthetics of our patients and at the same time gave the clinician a great tool of communication with the laboratory and with the patient. In recent years, softwares and applications have been introduced on the market in order to simplify the workflow and make more predictable the outcome. The purpose of the lecture is to resume the current concepts about digital aesthetic preview, and to show new trends.
