3D-Bone Regeneration in the Esthetic Zone: Fundamentals, Indications & Surgical Techniques Step-by-Step Premium Member Content

3D-Bone Regeneration in the Esthetic Zone: Fundamentals, Indications & Surgical Techniques Step-by-Step
The implant treatment on the esthetic zone aims healthy, functional and also esthetic results. In order to obtain an esthetic result is mandatory that the implants are placed in optimal 3D position and completely surrounded by healthy bone. Due to the alveolar ridge destruction caused by trauma and dental or implant infections, often bone availability is not enough to obtain a good esthetic result. In order to treat predictably such cases there are surgical techniques that allow a complete 3D reconstruction of the alveolar ridge. Of all those techniques described to regenerate 3D bone defects (with vertical and horizontal components) there are two that are more supported by scientific literature: Guided Bone Regeneration using PTFE non-resorbable membranes and ultra-fine cortical bone blocks (Khoury´s technique).

Alternative & New Tendencies for Alveolar Reconstruction in Modern Implant Dentistry Premium Member Content

Alternative & New Tendencies for Alveolar Reconstruction in Modern Implant Dentistry
Knowledge of bone biology and physiology are crucial for successful dento-alveolar reconstruction. The presentation will review the natural healing process of the bone and the sequence of events needed for proper regeneration. This process will then be discussed and compare with the present materials and technologies available in the market including alloplastics and allogenic materials. The role of the Stem Cells and rh-BMP2 will be exposed as part of these new trends in alveolar reconstruction for modern implant dentistry. Multiple cases will be presented demonstrating the versatility and outcomes in different clinical situations based on biological, bio-mechanics, and implant aesthetic needs.

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics Premium Member Content

Prosthetic Strategies to Enhance Dental Implant Aesthetics
The principle focus of implant dentistry has changed significantly from the era of ‘Anatomically driven implant placement’ to the current practice of ‘Restoration driven implant placement’. When we now look at the failing dentition in the aesthetic zone we now must immediately consider conversion to implants. We are continually seeking greater control of the peri-implant tissues and ultimately the aesthetics of the restoration. Implant/abutment designs allow us to consider immediate implant replacement, and immediate non-functional loading especially in the aesthetic zone, where preservation of hard and soft tissue is of paramount importance in order follow the principles of aesthetics by maintaining the elements which are already there

Subclassification and Clinical Management of Extraction Sockets with Labial Dentoalveolar Dehiscence Defects
Immediate implant therapy involving implants placed into intact Type 1 extraction sockets has become a consistent clinical technique. The classification of Type 2 extraction sockets, where the mucosal tissues are present but there is a midfacial osseous dehiscence defect, has been described according to the extent of the buccal bone plate absence. The literature has offered different techniques in the treatment of Type 2 sockets; however, the extent of the defect has never been defined or delineated.

The Use of Free Gingival Soft Tissue to Improve Implant/Soft Tissue Interface

The Use of Free Gingival Soft Tissue to Improve Implant/Soft Tissue Interface
Various techniques for the placement of different types of dental implants have evolved to the point where predictable bone-to-implant integration occurs if proper surgical technique is followed. The soft-tissue adaptation to the implant abutment is the first line of defense to prevent the development of peri-implantitis and subsequent bone loss. Given that there is a tenuous protective seal around dental implants, the rationale for soft-tissue augmentation around dental implants to provide an improved,…

Implant Prosthodontic Procedures for a Completely Edentulous Patient with a Cleft Palate
Cleft lip and palate maxillofacial prosthodontics is evolving and re-defining treatment approaches via the use of dental implants. A case report is presented demonstrating the use of the sinus lift procedure originally described by Tatum, the placement of osseointegrated root-form implants, and an implant-supported and -retained maxillofacial prosthesis.
