thanks Dr.salama.just a question came up for me,in one of the videos on dentalxp I saw one of our colleges put prgf in a fresh socket right after the extraction without inserting any bone material in it , checking it after 4 months and he had very good amount of bone .I saw a good quantity of bone and asked him about the quality ,but did not get any answer.supposing that it is in quality and quality couldn't we utilize this Technic in cases like this ?thanks a lot and good luck.

Travis;
Yes, the case was completed at the end of 2007. We will find the slides and incorporate it into a follow-up.
This is a challenge for the entire site as it gets larger. Follow-up on older cases. We are hopeful to be able to provide the follow-ups over the next several months. Keep an eye out and thanks for the post.
Maurice

Was this proceedure done in 2007? Is there a followup video posted yet? Thank you,

Maurice Salama - (6/28/2009 12:44 PM)

Cyndi;

Yes, you can use the fibrin instead of a collagen barrier. It resorbs in 3-4 weeks so if you require a longer membrane function you may want to add a collagen barrier in addition to the fibrin. Yes, I sometimes use autologous bone chips mixed with the PRGF. It works just as well.
Keep postin'.

Cyndi Nguyen - (6/26/2009 3:43 AM)

Hello Maurice, my BTI machine will be arriving next week. Could you use the layers of the fibrin as a barrier in the place of a collagen resobable membrane? Did you use any autologous bone or just MinerOss/BioOss?

Maurice Salama - (2/25/2009 9:28 AM)

Chris and XP Member 292;
The cost of this PRGF procedure would be in a range of $14-$28 per patient depending on the amount of blood used either 20cc or 40cc.
As for the Calcium Chloride that we add as an activator for the PRGF, we use 2 drops for every 4 titrations.
It's important to know that this is PRGF (sold by BTI and can be found on the products page of this site for more information), a protocol developed by a fellow Xpert Dr. Eduardo Anitua and not PRP from Harvest.
I've had much success with this product and have found it to be extremely user friendly.

Chris Smith - (2/24/2009 1:58 AM)

Hello Maurice,

to develop the fibrin membrane, what percentage of calcium chloride is added to the prp.

Thanks,

Chris

Systematic Review of Survival Rates for Immediately Loaded Dental Implants

Systematic Review of Survival Rates for Immediately Loaded Dental Implants
The primary goal of this paper was to determine the survival rate of immediately loaded (IL) dental implants based on a systematic review of the literature. Secondary goals were to determine the influence of several factors on the implant survival rate, such as the type of reconstruction, implant location, and implant surface characteristics. An electronic search of databases was performed, in addition to a hand search of the most relevant journals. All relevant articles were independently screened…

Dental Implants: Mastering Esthetics in the Smile Zone
The key to contemporary restorative dentistry is the fabrication of healthy, maintainable, esthetic, and functional prostheses. The true success of any restoration is reliant on the creation of an “illusion of reality,” regardless of the restorative modality used (eg, porcelain laminate veneers, crowns, and/or implant-supported prostheses). Developments and advances to the restorative armamentarium have significantly improved the clinician’s ability to deliver predictable and reliable treatments. Osseointegration…
