Extraction Site Management: Technical Aspects and Biologics

Description:
In this lecture and video case report, “conservative” management of posterior maxillary extraction sites are highlighted featuring new tools, techniques and biologics. How to extract teeth to preserve the socket environment using piezosurgery and extractor instruments is followed by simplified grafting with a synthetic bone substitute and biologic seal. After 4 months, the video 2nd surgery is clearly displayed with flap reflection, bone assessment and implant placement in a conservative staged approach. This is followed by final suturing using a running mattress.

Dr. Salama, I´ll only change the time of flap release, former to the augmentation with biomaterials. In that way I ll´ be able to do that procedure in an easier manner, without having extreme care with the biomaterials, ensuring the tension free procedure before augmentation. Excellent presentation.

Thank you Felicia and Wahib. Staged therapy and 4 months seems to be very conservative but also very effective.

Felicia Sintie - (8/31/2013 4:56 AM)

I can see? I am "free""

Wahib Moussa - (8/29/2013 7:56 AM)

Dear Dr.Salama, Thanks for a Great vedio,I always let one of my staff do the extraction ,then I continue ,but your motivating presentation will get me back to extraction applying your non traumatic approach. Our problem that our patients would love to have extraction and implant at same visit. How I can motivate them to have it in two stages. Best regards. Wahib

Abdusalam; Many thanks. We use both products here in our office with very similar results. Good luck. Dr. Salama

Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration
The IDR (Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration) technique has been used for over 6 years. With it, we can reconstruct socket tissue losses in the same surgical session of dental extraction, implant placement and provisional crown installation, minimizing the treatment time and morbidity of the procedures. In this presentation we discuss the hard and soft tissues stability when the IDR technique is applied in different types of periodontal biotypes and in sites with different defect levels. The clinical, radiographic and tomographic follow-up of some cases is shown, allowing us to evaluate the maintenance of gingival architecture and peri-implant bone stability around the implants.

The Esthetic Reconstructive TRIAD: "GBR, GTR and Tissue Molding"
Implant dentistry in the esthetic zone is highly challenging. In recent years there are several studies, well defined approaches available on how to achieve pleasing outcomes. We must understand the biology of extraction sites and different treatment options for preserving or even reconstructing bony structures for predictable implant placement. This clinical and evidence based presentation will emphasize the importance of proper 3-dimensional implant placement, show different bone preservation techniques i.e P.E.T. (Partial Extraction Therapy) and how soft tissue grafting can effect the final end result. However we must admit that not only surgery but prosthetic skills have a major influence on our work. Implant placement must be determined with the prosthetic plan in mind! On the other hand abutment design, platform shifting concept as tissue molding “tools” and screw retained solutions will be high-lighted with lots of case presentations.

Ceramic Dental Implants in Everyday Practice Premium Member Content

Ceramic Dental Implants in Everyday Practice
One-piece Zirconia Oxide implants can overcome the problems we associate with two-piece and one-piece titanium root form implants. It will be shown how this treatment option is no longer “experimental” and that the Zirconia Oxide material used in the CeraRoot implants shows excellent ability to osseointegrate, is phenomenally strong, and provides a soft tissue profile and health around the implants that rivals natural teeth. This presentation will make you rethink your titanium armamentarium. You will see a way to provide your patients with an ideal tooth replacement option. An implant that looks like a tooth, restores like a tooth, and has the periodontal health that rivals that of a tooth without the fear of screw loosening, metal showing, and Peri-implantitis caused by subgingival connections.

The Interdisciplinary Software Platform. The Key For Modern Digital Dentistry Premium Member Content

The Interdisciplinary Software Platform. The Key For Modern Digital Dentistry
The starting point of a facially driven interdisciplinary dental treatment plan is "The Smile Frame". A few crucial photos and steps will come together to create the ultimate template you need to communicate to your dental team, colleagues, and the patient to ultimately increase case acceptance and create the most aesthetic and functional method of rehabilitation to your patient. We will discuss how this paradigm shift of regular analog dentistry has shifted to this modern digital world and the benefits it provides. The protocol proposed will improve the diagnosis, communication and predictability of esthetic rehabilitation, from simple implant or restorative cases to complex cases, combining perio, ortho, and othognathic surgery. Emphasis will be given to the utilization of digital tools to enhance and facilitate the Dentist/Technician interaction and communication with the patient.

Prosthetic Gingival Reconstruction in a Fixed Partial Restoration - Part 1: Introduction to Artificial Gingiva as an Alternative Therapy
The Class III defect environment entails a vertical and horizontal deficiency in the endentulous ridge. Often, bone and soft tissue surgical procedures fall short of achieving a natural esthetic result. Alternative surgical and restorative protocols for these types of prosthetic gingival restorations are presented in this three-part series, which highlights the diagnostic and treatment aspects as well as the lab and maintenance challenges involved.

Replacement of a Mutilated Maxillary Incisor With a Single Implant Restoration: A Staged Implant
Patients are advised to maintain oral health in order to enjoy function and the natural appearance of their dentition for a lifetime. In the event that oral health becomes impaired, clinicians are capable of restoring it through either conservative or sophisticated treatment modalities. This treatment must be based on sound, rationalized clinical evidence and a clear understanding of the biological and physiological processes involved. Dental professionals must also acknowledge their personal limitations…
