“Finally” - Predictable Indirect Conservative Posterior Restorations

Description:
Nowadays the maintenance of “a nice smile” represents the main desire of our patients and the request for tooth colored restorations is very high. Predictable and repeatable results can be achieved through materials and clinical practices that, on one hand, preserve the original structure of the compromised tooth and, on the other hand, involve a very low biologic price. New technologies for the enamel-dentin adhesion and the continuous evolution of more sophisticated esthetic materials (composite resins and porcelains) allow the effective reaching of verifiable and predictable results. Technologies and materials have to follow an operative approach that strictly involves operative steps which have been carefully codified referring to the materials typology used from time to time. This lecture aims to point out the relevant guidelines for obtaining predictable indirect posterior restorations through the evaluation of a correct biomechanical approach rather than giving just a “trendy” adhesive approach.

Francesco, thanks again for continuing to show us the way, with posterior composite restorations with superb clinical material, outstanding teaching of the concepts, combined with the the all important relevant research that validate this more conservative approach.. . . . . Bravo we all appreciate your approach and demeanor in delivering it David Garber

Innovative Sequencing for Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Treatment
Smile enhancement therapy has become an important facet of the everyday aesthetic practice. Aesthetic evaluation utilizing facial aesthetic design to diagnose tooth position demands effective communication between the periodontal-restorative team. This presentation will review innovative sequencing techniques for interdisciplinary cases which require aesthetic crown lengthening for the treatment of excessive gingival display, and for gingival augmentation for root coverage, and the correction of poor gingival quality. Immediate implant placement with immediate non–loaded provisional fabrication will also be reviewed.

The Biomimetic Approach to Saving Teeth: Minimally Invasive Restorations and Periodontal Surgery
Stress reduced composite restorations now play a significant role in minimally invasive restorative dentistry. When combined with micro-periodontal surgical grafting techniques to alter gingival levels these procedures save teeth and warrant further consideration in our daily treatment. Our ability to minimize tooth reduction during tooth preparation and still maintain a strength of material and of bonding on previously exposed root surfaces as well as endodontically treated teeth is the future of a truly biomimetic approach. This presentation highlights this biomimetic approach to treatment and showcases the clinicians ability to provide long term management of both function and esthetics. It should open our eyes to the potential of maintaining the dentition of our patients rather than crown or implant replacement.

Clinical Tips for Posterior Composites Premium Member Content

Clinical Tips for Posterior Composites
Despite the popularity of posterior composites, it is a topic that still creates questions and frustrations for many clinicians. Our goal is to place these restorations with ease and success to create long lasting results. We will discuss preparation design, material selection, matrices, and placement techniques. One of the most common questions I get is about predictably creating tight contacts, and we will look at several techniques to ensure this happens.
