Hot Topics in Adhesion and Etchable Dental Ceramics

Description:
Esthetics and minimally invasive therapy are among the driving forces behind many successful restorative practices. Key among the tools clinicians require to deliver on patient expectations are etchable ceramic restorations and our ability to achieve a durable and long lasting bond when placing them. The technologies utilized, both ceramic and adhesive are constantly being upgraded.

Questions & Comments
Leonard Nelwan - (5/2/2013 1:42 PM)

Great presentation Dr Edward, the "mini" veneer was very interesting, can we do that with CAD CAM ? when should we adjust the bulky edges, after or before cementation. thank you Leonard Nelwan

Michael Friedman - (10/10/2012 3:24 PM)

After you do the IDS technique, what can you use to temporize? Also once you take the temporary out do you need to do anything different for bonding? Or do you still etch, chlorhexadine, glum, prime/bond and then cement. Thanks again, Great Presentation!

SERGE MADHERE - (10/7/2012 1:57 AM)

Great Presentation Dr. Mclaren

PHILIP KAPLAN - (10/5/2012 2:11 AM)

thanx for the update. do you find it disturbing that it seems no company offers a comprehensive bonding system? clinicians have to grope for protocols and then piece together materials from various manufacturers

Sérgio Lopes - (10/3/2012 10:29 PM)

Excellent presentation Dr. Maclaren.
Just a question.. relatively to a possible oclusal protection of the veneers..

Do you use oclusal splints?
In what circunstances and whath kind?

Thank you
Sérgio Lopes

Hi Ed. Excellent presentation. Just a couple of questions to fill in the gaps for me. How long do you total etch? Do you now use the Gluma Desensitizer for IDS? Are you curing the thin viscosity dental adhesives like All Bond S3 prior to placing the "loaded veneers" for cementation?

Marcelo Silva - (10/3/2012 6:19 PM)

Great Presentation. Congrats!

Maurice Salama - (10/3/2012 9:42 AM)

Optimizing Tissue Esthetics of Single Tooth Implants
With optimized planning, precise placement of the fixture, and the use of laser technology to reduce tissue trauma we can minimize the bone and tissue changes during the surgical phase. During the restorative phase creation of proper tissue contours using the CO2 laser and control of tooth form to position tissue set the stage for obtaining optimal esthetic results.

The Merger of Orthodontics with Cosmetic Dentistry
As orthodontists, we don’t do laminates. But when we are finishing a case, sometimes the smile just doesn’t “look right”. But not all our patients either want or can afford laminates. Not all even need them to get a great smile. So, what principles can we learn from the cosmetic dentists and use in our orthodontic cases? Apparently quite a lot! In this presentation, Dr. Sarver will illustrate finishing procedures such as reshaping contacts, connectors, embrasures, and even soft tissue contouring with lasers to achieve that next level of smile presentation in your orthodontic cases.

In medicine, and to a lesser extent in dentistry, evolving technologies have served to expand the indications for minimally invasive procedures. In dentistry, lasers, although currently less integral to advances in minimally invasive procedures, are nevertheless evolving as potentially effective adjunctive tools within the therapeutic arena.
