Implant Therapy and Esthetic Considerations - A Conservative Direct Composite Alternative - Part 4 of 6

Description:
In this fourth part of the series, Drs. David Garber and Claudio Pinho demonstrate an alternative approach with Direct Composite Bonding utilizing a guided silicone matrix to compensate for malpositioned anterior teeth, caries, and limited spacing. The step by step technique using a laboratory waxed model and chairside fabricated silicone index, to develop the intra-oral composite restorative tooth forms, is sequentially shown. A simplified method of finishing and polishing is shown as part of this rapid, ultra-conservative, visual tooth re-alignment and replacement.

Bassam Algheryafi - (12/20/2012 2:24 PM)

Dr.Garber, great work. The incisal edge on the centrals were already tilted mesio-lingually and by ading the veneers labially they became broader FL. Did you thin the edges from the mesio.lingual to keep the edges as thin as normal? Thanks

David Garber - (5/26/2011 2:38 AM)

Farshad, it is a potential problem ,but in watching the video Dr Pinho has taught us to work on one tooth at a time and keep it isolated - - then basically complete initial contouring before moving to next tooth If it happens inadvertently a Cerisaw works at slicing thru that contact area hope that helps David

David Garber - (5/26/2011 2:32 AM)

Nagarajan,- - as you notice the upper right lateral had already had endo - - the other teeth were fine as it was predominantly an additive procedure with Composite, with almost no tooth reduction. . David

Correction of Tooth Defects and Discolored Teeth Using Direct Composite Resin
For over 50 years dentists have been making instant esthetic transformations using direct composite resin. That technology has been enhanced by the latest nano composite materials. Although the past decade has seen greater use of ceramic materials in esthetic dentistry, direct bonding with these new composites is still a highly valuable procedure. This video will deal with correction of severe tooth discoloration using nano composites. Immediate composite resin bonding can act as either the ideal correction or as an extended trial smile so patients can live with their new smile as long as necessary.

Clinical Tips for Posterior Composites
Despite the popularity of posterior composites, it is a topic that still creates questions and frustrations for many clinicians. Our goal is to place these restorations with ease and success to create long lasting results. We will discuss preparation design, material selection, matrices, and placement techniques. One of the most common questions I get is about predictably creating tight contacts, and we will look at several techniques to ensure this happens.
