Thank you for an excellent reminder in fundamentals and principles.

david fox - (5/22/2010 2:49 PM)

title and content were not entirely consistent. Also in viewing many of the after photos I was troubled by seeing the extensive overbite ( vertical overlap ). When post op photos are shown I always like to comment if something in the clinical po photo. displays a large divergence from that of the normal biologic system. Additionally, with regards to tooth reduction three planes of facial reduction may make more sense than just two planes if both cervical and midfacial planes are addressed simultaneously the potential for greater than necessary reduction may occur.

Parts 1,2 & 3 are simply a clear explanation of all the relevant aspects in getting that precise impression ; incorporating the biological understanding , preparation form, retraction and materials - - well presented for essential learning
Nowhere do I see any discussion of impression taking, yet the title is The Master Impression in Restorative Dentistry. What gives?
Hi John,
In Part 1 of this series, I believe that Dr. Lowe is properly highlighting the necessary periodontal and tooth preparation parameters that are the first necessary steps to achieving a "Master Impression". Hemostasis, tissue retraction and a discussion of impression materials etc... will definitely be forthcoming very soon in upcoming sections in this series.
regards,
Henry Salama, DMD

Nowhere do I see any discussion of impression taking, yet the title is The Master Impression in Restorative Dentistry. What gives?
