Very interesting and informative........which shows that it is not the clinical skills you possess that will keep you free of aggravating legal hassles, but a knowledge of the law and how it applies to our profession that is equally important. Unfortunately, in the area where I practice dentistry, the licencing body hires dentists who cannot survive in the private sector because of incompetence and or dishonesty, and makes these losers administrators giving these people tremendous power over their former competitors, and a chance to get even with them....and they have the power of the law on their side....which adds up to tremendous legal expenses and fines for the harassed dentist.........it would be wonderful to hear Dr. Zinman comment on these types of situations

Legal Considerations in the Use of Cone Beam Computer Tomography Imaging
Cone beam computed tomography imaging represents a paradigm shift for enhancing diagnosis and treatment planning. Questions regarding cone beam computed tomography's associated legal responsibility are addressed, including cone beam tomography necessity, recognition of pathosis in the scan's entire volume, adequate training, informed consent and/or refusal and current court status of cone bean computed tomography. Judicious selection and prudent use of cone beam computed tomography technology to protect and promote patient safety and efficacious treatment complies with the standard of care.

Informed consent principles illustrate the comparison between dental ethics and the law.
