Minimally Invasive Crestal Balloon Sinus Lift

Description:
There remains many potential complications associated with classic lateral approach sinus augmentations causing a reluctance by many patients and novice implant surgeons to pursue this grafting technique. The MIAMBE technique minimizes compications and risks for both the patient and clinician. This video demonstrates the MIAMBE "Minimally Invasive Antral Membrane Balloon Elevation" in a step by step procedure. It highlights the dedicated balloon kit and piezo surgical instrumentation needed to perform this procedure successfully.

Questions & Comments
Maurice Salama - (12/21/2012 10:01 AM)

Juan; This is an excellent question. Other than CBCT and grey area of sinus membrane there is no information of sinus thickness and I know of no article on relating internal sinus elevation to schniderian membrane thickness? Good study though. warm regards Dr. Salama

As I asked you in Antalya I still thinking about the necessity the mucosa thinkness assesment prior to permorm the MIAMBE technique. Do you do any evaluation of the mucosa status before this procedure? There are some exclusión in that direction? Allergies, sinusitis, etc

Wilbur; You may contact Dr. Ziv Mazor through his Xpert page about how to purchase this equipment but I believe a 1 day accreditation course is required to learn the technique. Good luck Dr. Salama

Wilbur Bakke - (8/21/2010 5:39 PM)

Who can I contact and where can I obtain the instrumentation needed for the MIAMBE technique?

Maurice Salama - (8/20/2010 10:47 AM)

Dear XP Community; The inventors of the Balloon Sinus Lift MIAMBE technique displayed in this video was Dr. Efraim Kfir and Prof. Kaluski and not Dr. Ziv Mazor as was mistakenly suggested. My apologies to those inventors.
Dr. Salama

Alper; Thank you. Here I utilized PRGF, Plasma Rich in Growth Factors from the patient's own blood. I prefer it over Gem 21 or any other synthetic non-autologous material. The only other material I would try would be BMP-2 with ACS but it is just too expensive for the patient. Thanks for the post, Dr. Salama

Nice case... Mr Salama do u use rhPDGF (Gem 21S)in your sinus lifting cases? Get good results (decrease healing time for grafts whatever u use...)?
Thanks...

Dr. Sawas; I refer you to Dr. Choukroun and Dr. Anitua`s lectures on dentalxp.com for the differences between the 2 autologous blood borne bioactive products. They have both been very impressive in my clinical cases although I have more experience with PRGF than PRF. good luck Dr. Salama

mhd AlSawas - (8/8/2010 6:08 AM)

thank you for this great approch, how can I get PRF OR PRGF? Waht is the deferient betwen PRF AND PRGF ?Dr SAWAS.

The Management of a Septum and a Large Retention Cyst in the Sinus and Simultaneous Sinus Augmentation
While sinus augmentation has become a more routine surgical procedure in today's practice, there are often unique challenges to overcome such as septums, lack of primary crestal bone and retention cysts. This presentation aims to demonstrate the management of a large retention cyst at the same time as simultaneous sinus augmentation. Surgical protocol, complications and management will be discussed.

Emerging Concepts in Sinus Augmentation; Atraumatic and Efficient Crestal and Lateral Access Techniques
This presentation will highlight through in depth clinical case documentation, the new and evolving role of instrumentation for access to the Sinus for Bone Augmentation. Efficiency and minimally invasive approaches which increase success and minimize complications will be highlighted. Posterior Maxillary reconstruction often involves Sinus Augmentation and Implants then inserted into the grafted site. A knowledge of useful and clinically manageable techniques that provide access but minimize large surgical flaps and sinus membrane perforations are keys to success.
