Juan; This is an excellent question. Other than CBCT and grey area of sinus membrane there is no information of sinus thickness and I know of no article on relating internal sinus elevation to schniderian membrane thickness? Good study though. warm regards Dr. Salama

As I asked you in Antalya I still thinking about the necessity the mucosa thinkness assesment prior to permorm the MIAMBE technique. Do you do any evaluation of the mucosa status before this procedure? There are some exclusión in that direction? Allergies, sinusitis, etc

Dear XP Community; The inventors of the Balloon Sinus Lift MIAMBE technique displayed in this video was Dr. Efraim Kfir and Prof. Kaluski and not Dr. Ziv Mazor as was mistakenly suggested. My apologies to those inventors.

Alper; Thank you. Here I utilized PRGF, Plasma Rich in Growth Factors from the patient's own blood. I prefer it over Gem 21 or any other synthetic non-autologous material. The only other material I would try would be BMP-2 with ACS but it is just too expensive for the patient. Thanks for the post, Dr. Salama

Nice case... Mr Salama do u use rhPDGF (Gem 21S)in your sinus lifting cases? Get good results (decrease healing time for grafts whatever u use...)?

Dr. Sawas; I refer you to Dr. Choukroun and Dr. Anitua`s lectures on dentalxp.com for the differences between the 2 autologous blood borne bioactive products. They have both been very impressive in my clinical cases although I have more experience with PRGF than PRF. good luck Dr. Salama

When immediate implant placement is considered for teeth with close proximity to the sinus floor, apical extension of the osteotomy is significantly limited, and often a staged approach is used. Implant placement into fresh extraction sockets and sinus floor manipulation using bone-added osteotome sinus floor elevation with implant placement are techniques most often used independently or sequentially. In this care report, immediate implant placement with simultaneous osteotome sinus floor elevation is an advantageous combination of two successfully used techniques. This combined approach can significantly reduce the treatment time for implant therapy in teeth with close sinus proximity and provide the operator with the ability to place implants of desired length.

Healing in Smokers Versus Nonsmokers: Survival Rates for Sinus Floor Augmentation with Simultaneous Implant Placement
Evidence suggests that smoking is detrimental to the survival of dental implants placed in grafted maxillary sinuses. Studies have shown that improving bone quantity and quality, using rough- surfaced implants, and practicing good oral hygiene may improve outcomes. In this prospective study, the long-term survival rates of implants placed simultaneously with sinus grafting in smokers and non- smokers were compared.
