Good morning my best compliments to Dott Allen for the technique and at all for the fantastic web site that I think is the best and helpfully all over the world I would like to know the characteristic of flap ,if is a full or half thickness or when end where if half or full. Thanks for the attention Dott. Michele Nannelli Italy

Sandra; typically done for ease and success of passing tissue through the tunnel. VISTA is completely different technique with large vertical incisions that extend into mucosa on each side of defect. Come see both performed in hands-on programs by the inventors, Pat Allen Tunnel and Homa Zadeh VISTA at the XP Global Sympsoium in Las Vegas Feb. 7-9.2013.

I want to know the answer about this question: "How did he decide on which papilla to tunnel and which to sever? Or did he just alternate for access..." Thanks

Edison Louie - (8/4/2012 9:56 PM)

what are the indications and advantages in using the VISTA approach?

Edison Louie - (8/4/2012 9:55 PM)

Well done!

My point of view is that you can watch the speaker doing preservation V-shaped design at the swelling of the papilla. He is doing tunneling at the small width of attached gingiva of the papilla. If there is any commment to my point, please let me know.

The preservation of the surgery is excellent.

Developing White and Pink Esthetics through Reconstructive Surgery
This lecture/video presentation describes the comprehensive treatment of a case in which we needed to reconstruct the hard and the soft tissue after the extraction of a central incisor. The video demonstrates on of several possible surgical procedures for the reconstruction of tissue defects within the esthetic zone. Specifically, a non-resorbable membrane was utilized and combined with a modification of the pedicle connective tissue graft at the same time of the extraction.

The Basics of Root Coverage Surgery with Acellular Dermal Grafts: A STEP-BY-STEP Live Patient Demonstration
oft tissue grafting is rapidly playing a larger role in restorative, esthetic, and reconstructive dentistry. While conventional grafting techniques have several limitations, newer grafting materials and techniques make it easier for patients to say "yes" to the treatment they truly need and desire. In this webinar, Dr. Wong will perform a step-by-step demonstration using Perioderm to correct multiple gingival recession defects. Soft tissue allografts are quickly becoming a "game changer" in dentistry, making optimum dentistry more than an ideal... it's a reality.

This presentation by the Troeltzsch Brothers features the fundamentals of surgical procedures in the oral cavity. Highlighted are the basic concepts we all must integrate into our daily clinical practice. A discussion of the essential anatomic guidelines as they relate to flap design options and indications are emphasized. Furthermore, material selection, sutures and techniques of wound closures are clearly addressed. Critical solutions to common surgical complications are also described. This lecture is intended for surgical beginners as well as experienced clinicians who want to update their surgical knowledge. These fundamentals are also very popular in the hands-on courses given by the Troeltzsch brothers.

Maintaining Interimplant Crestal Bone Height Via a Combined Platform-Switched, Laser-Lok Implant/Abutment System: A Proof-of-Principle Canine Study
Interimplant papillae are critical for achieving esthetic implant-supported restorations in the maxillary esthetic zone. Stable papillary anatomy, however, depends upon a stable volume underlying crestal bone for support. Multiple studies have documented a critical interimplant distance of 3mm under which crestal bone resorption occurs. This preclinical proof-of-principle canine study examines a novel implant-abutment system design, combining platform switching with precisely configured laser-ablated abutment and implant microgrooves to maintain interimplant crestal bone at interimplant distances of 2 and 4 mm. Results of this initial preclinical study suggest that it is possible through precise implant/abutment design modifications to place adjacent implants at distance of 2 to 4 mm without inducing subpapillary crestal bone loss.

Antimicrobial Effect of a Single Dose of Amoxicillin on the Oral Microbiota

Antimicrobial Effect of a Single Dose of Amoxicillin on the Oral Microbiota
Amoxicillin is commonly used in oral surgery for antimicrobial prophylaxis against surgical-site infection and bacteremia because of its effect on oral streptococci. The aim of this study was to determine whether amoxicillin reaches the break-point concentrations in saliva and has any effect on the salivary microbiota, colonizing bacteria on mucosal membranes and on the gingival crevice after a single dose of amoxicillin. A single dose given as prophylaxis to prevent a surgical-site infection results in a significant reducing effect on the oral streptococcal microflora in the gingival crevice and may have an impact on bacteria spreading into tissues and the bacteria of streptococci.
