Periodontal Plastic Surgery in the Treatment of the Gummy Smile

Description:
Thanks to the constant advances in modern dentistry we can predict surgical results, stablishing new standards for diagnosis and develop treatments for periodontal plastic surgery as of Altered Passive Eruption by electrosurgery. This is used by the T- shaped regulation, provided by Dr. Chu for the accuracy golden proportions, which has became an innovative way to make cosmetic lengthening of the clinical crowns, covering changes in relations to size, shape, and balance of the teeth to obtain a radical variation in the front aesthetic of patients.

Buena presentación, conceptos cotidianos, pero que en ocasiones los olvidamos

Hello Barry, you can get dr. Chu's guide trough a Hu-Friedy distributor; and the most important thing is that the patient is fully grown up to be able to make bone remodelations procedures...

David Garber - (7/15/2013 7:35 PM)

excellent presentation explaining the complexities of excessive gingival display, and smile design - really nice surgeries , but the title was a little misleading in the translation because the procedures were so much more than simple electrosurgery - electrosurgery was a well selected component of the whole procedure.

barry zeitman - (7/15/2013 5:40 PM)

Please provide info on obtaining Dr. Chu's guide. If a patient presents with altered passive eruption under 20 years of age, what are the alternatives to treatment. Great presentation!

I agree that the laser is an excellent choice in crown lengthening. But if you are used with electrosurgery and use it low potency and without touching the bone you will never have problems with long term recession.

Edward Kusek - (7/14/2013 9:40 PM)

sorry, but learn to use a laser instead of electrosurge. You increase pain to the patient and increase long term recession

Alessandro Agnini - (7/13/2013 12:43 PM)

Well done Emilio and beatiful cases. You are a talented young dentist.

From Extraction to Prosthetic Restoration: Considerations for the Esthetic Zone
This webinar will highlight surgical and restorative techniques to accomplish predictable outcomes in the esthetic zone with implant therapy. Treatment modalities will be demonstrated with high quality photography and case series discussion. Surgical modalities presented will include ridge preservation, the current evidence on the use of growth factors such as PRP and hr-PDGF bb. Also timing of implant placement as well as soft and hard tissue augmentation will be discussed. Special emphasis will be placed on immediate provisionalization of implants to accomplish optimal peri-implant mucosa architecture. Techniques to transfer provisional emergence profile to the final restoration will be presented.

Emerging Perspectives in Soft Tissue Augmentation: Evolving Tools, Techniques & Materials
Soft tissue root coverage microsurgery and pontic site enhancement are frequently utilized periodontal plastic surgery techniques to create an ideal restorative frame for teeth, pontics and implants. Tunnel, Semilunar, VISTA etc. are among the new age techniques highlighted in this growing area of periodontal microsurgery. New autologous tissue harvest techniques, Allograft ACDM and Bioactive Modifiers have all changed the way we are capable of managing soft tissue deficiencies and have assisted the clinician in improving the healing qualities of these minimally invasive techniques. This lecture will cover site preparation techniques for conventional dentistry as well as prior to and after implant placement.

The Socket-Shield Technique to Support the Buccofacial Tissues at Immediate Implant Placement

The Socket-Shield Technique to Support the Buccofacial Tissues at Immediate Implant Placement
Tooth loss and subsequent ridge collapse continue to burden restorative implant treatment. Careful management of the post-extraction tissues is needed to preserve the alveolar ridge. In-lieu of surgical augmentation to correct a ridge defect, the socket-shield technique offers a promising solution. As the root submergence technique retains the periodontal attachment and maintains the alveolar ridge for pontic site development, this case report demonstrates the hypothesis that retention of a prepared tooth root section as a socket-shield prevents the recession of tissues buccofacial to an immediately placed implant. The socket-shield technique is a highly promising addition to clinical implant dentistry and this case report is among the first to demonstrate the procedure in clinical practice with a 1-year follow up.
