Plastic-Esthetic Periodontal and Implant Surgery: A Microsurgical Approach - Part 2

Description:
This 2 part presentation is a comprehensive overview of the principles, indications, and clinical techniques of plastic-esthetic periodontal and implant microsurgery, focusing especially on minimal soft tissue trauma and maximally perfect wound closure. Microsurgery provides clinically relevant advantages over conventional macro-surgical concepts for regenerative and plastic-esthetic periodontal surgery, especially in the all-important esthetic zone. The microsurgical principles and procedures presented will described using high resolution multimedia.

The Evolving Role of Soft Tissue Enhancement in Esthetic Reconstructive Dentistry - Part 2 of 3
Soft tissue grafting techniques, new regenerative materials and bioactivators will be highlighted. The expanding role of allograft materials (Perioderm), platelet rich in growth factors (PRGF, PRF), and when to utilize them will be suggested. The ability of these combined protocols to alter the soft tissue profile around natural teeth, implants, and dentulous ridges, will be reviewed as to its critical role in "Complete Esthetics".

The AGE Approach: A Combination Protocol for Hard and Soft Tissue Augmentation in Complex Cases
Although new restorative materials have improved predictability and outcomes, hard and soft tissue management plays a fundamental role when working in aesthetic areas. To achieve ideal results, preservation of the natural hard and soft tissue architecture is the primary clinical objective. This new proposed AGE protocol illustrates the importance of hard and soft tissue management when working in esthetic and highly compromised areas. This protocol and schematic approach was developed to help the surgical practitioner visualize and divide the problem into a predictable step-by-step workflow.

Prosthetic Soft Tissue Development From Single to Full Arch Reconstruction
In addition to surgical intervention is the creation of the specific emergence profile that is essential in the aesthetic zone. The emergence profile composed of 2 parts, the abutment and the subgingival part of the crown. The shape of abutment can be individually shaped so that it gives natural appearance and varies individually (depending on the depth, angulation and diameter of the implant). Sometimes it even dictates the implant position. From a surgical perspective, soft tissue height, position and thickness need to be diagnosed and corrected when needed. From the prosthetic point of view, the emergence profile has to be created to mimic the natural appearance and maintained over time in respect to the biological changes. The course teaches step by step how to be successful with implant prosthetics from single tooth, partially edentulous to full arch reconstruction.

Revisiting the Papilla in 2016 - Part 2 of 2
While different surgical techniques can restore most aspects of a ridge deficiency,as part of the soft tissue restorative frame, the regeneration of lost proximal papilla form is surgically limited to those papillae bordered on each side by a pontic The Classification of 6 types of papilla defects is based on the specifics of the restorative support on either side of the individual site, and can therefore be a tooth, implant or pontic, or combinations of the 3.

Soft Tissue Enhancement After Implant Placement

Soft Tissue Enhancement After Implant Placement
Soft tissue management is one of the key factors for successful implant restoration. Esthetics can be strongly influenced by the conditions of the peri-implant tissue. Substantial knowledge of tissue anatomy and biology is a fundamental prerequisite for surgical success. The present chapter introduces different techniques to improve the appearance of the soft tissue after implant placement. Cases of repositioned flaps, FGGs, and CTGs are presented along with biological considerations. It was our intention to present various indications and options to the clinician to achieve an increased amount of peri-implant KG or connective tissue thickness.

Bipolar Electrosurgery: Gingival Modification in Passive Eruption

Bipolar Electrosurgery: Gingival Modification in Passive Eruption
Excessive gingival display can affect the total aesthetics of a smile, becoming its focus instead of its frame. This can be the result of passive eruption of the gingival complex as the teeth erupt. The condition of delayed or altered passive eruption exists when the gingival complex remains coronal to the cementoenamel junction (CEJ), with the attachment on the enamel instead of the cementum of the root, giving the appearance of short clinical crowns. Crown lengthening is critical to the success…
