Esthetic Rehabilitation of the Periodontally Compromised Dentition
Rehabilitation of esthetics in advanced periodontal cases presents a major challenge in dentistry today. Patients with advanced disease affecting teeth in the esthetic zone, where significant asymmetrical bone loss and tissue recession are present, constitute a challenging treatment-planning dilemma when choosing the optimum therapeutic option for long-term maintenance. This article reviews a novel interdisciplinary approach for vertical augmentation of bone and soft tissues by means of orthodontic extrusion of severely periodontally compromised teeth, facilitating the restoration of esthetics with improved bone and soft tissue volume around immediate implants.

Making it easier for restorative dentist to achieve better esthetic & functional results. Orthognatic surgery combined with orthodontics corrects skeletal discrepancies in order to have the patient ready for prosthodontic replacement of multiple missing teeth. Cases combined with implants to restore form & function will further illustrate the importance of multidisciplinary dentistry. Today´s practice requires a team approach that will be presented. In order to meet the patient´s demands for better esthetics and to obtain long term occlusal stability of our results.

The Role of Orthodontic Extrusive Remodeling
A classification scheme that systematizes the wide range of regenerative potential of common extraction site topographies is presented. Within this system, the parameters for immediate implant placement and preliminary ridge augmentation are discussed. In addition, a new adjunctive role for orthodontic extrusion is introduced. This approach is intended to manipulate "hopeless" teeth to modify their local defect environments, thereby enhancing the predictability of subsequent implant placement at…
