After attending Case-Western Reserve School of Dentistry and graduating with honors in 1977, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Dr. Erickson served two years in the Naval Dental Corps, completing clinical rotations through all the dental specialties. He has been in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia since 1979.
Dr. Erickson was an assistant clinical instructor at Emory University’s School of Dentistry until its closure. He was also a member of the Atlanta Craniomandibular Society, a TMJ study club founded by some of the early pioneers in the field.
In 1987, Dr. Erickson created the first of its kind, dentist operated, Dental Assistant Training School. The school was designed to be taught by the dental staff on weekends for training students in dental assisting. Since then, hundreds of trained dental assistants from the program have been placed in offices throughout the Atlanta metro area. The school enjoys an excellent reputation in the local dental community for the quality of its graduates. The school, which provides dentists with a sizable second income stream, has been franchised to hundreds of other dentists throughout the United States. www.mydentalcareers.com
In 1999, Dr. Erickson sensed the need for providing busy clinicians with the latest useful research information contained in the inaccessible dental school library, peer-reviewed journals. In addition, Dr. Erickson developed the means to cull valuable information from hundreds of national meeting seminars and summarizing it in an easy reading format. Thus, Dental Updates was created to fill that void and provide the practicing dentist with quick reading summaries of the latest published research and seminar information in an unbiased, no-advertising format. Over 200 seminars a year plus over 35 peer-reviewed journals are regularly examined for useful information to the clinical dentist. In addition, research presented at major meetings such as the International Academy of Dental Research (IADR) and the American Academy of Dental Research (AADR) are also examined and summarized in the publication. Published four times a year, Dental Updates has been called the most useful one-stop source of clinical information in dentistry today.
