Transitional Custom Abutments: Optimizing Esthetics in Implant Supported Restorations Transitional Custom Abutments: Optimizing Esthetics in Implant Supported Restorations

Author(s):

Ernesto A. Lee, DMD

Date Added:

Summary:

As the discipline of implant prosthodontics continues to evolve, additional emphasis has been focused on the role of adequate emergence profiles and peri-implant soft tissue contours. Despite the development of anatomically shaped healing abutments, currently advocated techniques exhibit clinical limitations. This article introduces the transitional custom abutment technique as a method of manipulating the supraimplant soft tissue contours so that optimal emergence profiles and increased restorative flexibility can be achieved in the treatment of patients with compromised fixture angulation.

Socket Shield Technique - Implantology Today

Socket Shield Technique - Implantology Today
The socket shield procedure is an effective surgical technique for implant supported restorations. It helps in preserving the labial bone and soft tissue architecture around osseointegrated implants. The procedure provides comparable or better outcomes compared to other conventional alternatives at a lower cost.

Digital Full Arch Implant Dentistry: Do We Really Need to Make Hybrid Restorations?
I will highlight the benefits achievable through the use of guided planning, guided laboratory procedures and guided surgeries, while maintaining the fundamental principles of osseointegration. My ten years of scientifically proven experience and clinical follow-up in guided surgery and CAD/CAM biomimetic restorations will be shared with the audience to support clinical protocols as well as practical tips and tricks with case studies demonstrating each clinical scenario. New surgical and prosthetic improvements and novel proof-of-concept techniques to enhance the natural soft tissue integration will be presented. Viewers will also broaden their knowledge of hard and soft tissue surgical management through the guided surgery, discovering the latest implant designs and prosthetic interfaces designed to achieve an ideal soft tissue seal and bone level over time.

Implants in the Esthetic Zone: How to Get Predictable Results
Placings implants in the anterior maxilla can be a challenging treatment, since these are esthetically demanding cases. To achieve esthetic results which are similar to the natural tooth, first an understanding of the resorption process must be understood. Secondly with the help of three-dimensional planning on CBCT images, a protocol can be made at which timepoint an implant should be placed: immediate, early or delayed. Also, when is it a good option to preserve the socket rather than to wait for spontaneous healing. The final esthetics are not only the white esthetics, but the pink esthetics should be restored as well by means of a transitional temporary crown to create a cervical and emergence profile.

The 10 Year Evolution of Guided Surgery, What We Have Learned From our First Patients
The initial NobelGuide protocol was developed and completed in 2003 for the first series of treated North American edentulous patients. The 10-year clinical results from this initial patient group treated with implant placement and immediate loading via a fixed prosthesis, now provides insights into what have we learned from the evolution of guided implant treatments to ensure and improve surgical and prosthodontic treatment outcomes.
