Course Overview
In this course, we will look into the powerful ways that IV sedation can help dentists build careers that are both fulfilling and profitable. We will also cover the apprehensions, perceptions, and misperceptions about IV sedation that exist in the minds of dental practitioners.
More importantly, though, we'll discuss how IV sedation can help create a larger "point of entry" for patients who need (but might be avoiding) dental care, while significantly improving clinical care and the overall "patient experience" as well.
Course Objectives
1. Understand the various levels of sedation, including minimal, mild, and moderate sedation, and their typical applications in dental practices.
2. Differentiate between oral and IV sedation, analyzing their respective onset times, adjustability, amnesic effects, recovery periods, and cost implications for patients.
3. Identify patient categories who are ideal candidates for sedation dentistry, as well as those for whom sedation is contraindicated.
