Course Overview
We will discuss local and systemic obstacles that may occur. You’ll learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of the problem, identify the cause, and manage the appropriate response. Dr. Feck will also discuss preventative measures to add to your safety guidelines. From a non-running IV solution to infiltration and thrombophlebitis you’ll be able to prevent, adapt, and respond. You’ll be prepared to respond quickly and precisely to PONV, drug allergies, and laryngospasm.
Course Objectives
1. Learn common interactions with IV agents
2. Learn the beneficial side effects of IV agents
3. Recognize common complications of venipuncture
4. Understand IV equipment failures (non-running IV solution)
5. Identify complications that occur based on patient profiles (age, etc.)
