Course Overview

The health of the periimplant tissues plays an important role in the long term outcome of dental implants. The new PMT(Periosteal Membrane Technique) described by Dr. Cosmin Dima brings us the big advantage of covering our grafting material with the best membrane in the world-our patient’s periosteum.

All the details will be described and especially the “tips and tricks” wich help us to transform a big challenge into a safe and predictable success.
The absence of keratinized gingiva (KG) may be a risk factor for developing recession or periimplantitis.
Among the various soft tissue augmentation techniques Apically repositioned flap , Free gingival grafts ( FGG ) and Connective tissue grafts ( CTG ) are documented as the most predictable methods to increase the width of KG. Autogenous grafts increase the soft tissue thickness and improve aesthetics compared to non-grafted sites. But all these techniques involve harvesting the graft opening another wound. The “ Snake technique “, described by Dr. Dima , is the only one technique having advantages of only one wound but in the same time offering the best results in time like the other well known techniques mentioned above.

How the technique should be used, the details that make surgical intervention a success, but also the possible complications and their solving, will be detailed during presentation.

Course Objectives

1. How to improve hard tissues around implants using the periosteum as a perfect membrane, helped by the new PMT Technique.

2. How to improve the quality and quantity of the soft tissues around implants, in the same time with the bone augmentation without any gingival graft, just by repositioning the flap in a safe and predictable way, described by the PMT Technique.

3. How to improve the quality and quality of the soft tissues around implants with the minimally invasive Snake Technique
