The purpose of bone augmentation procedures is reconstruction of the resorbed edentulous ridges to allow the placement of endosseous dental implants.Sinus lifting is the most common and the most documented application of this concept.However,even though the reliability of this technique is widely established,3–5 the procedure remains very delicate.In fact,secondary parameters may occur and jeopardize the treatment evolution. They are divided into 3 categories: bacterial contamination, delayed healing, and mechanical stress.
