Continuing Education Course Modules
1 Advances in Bone Augmentation and Related Armamentarium
Bone augmentation is one of the most important and most difficult steps in implantology. Also the standard techniques used are very sensitive, bound to a certain experience from a large number of surgeries and have a high learning curve. Despite these facts augmentation procedures are often the least planned part of the therapy and based on poor diagnostics. Due to a lack of standardized protocols these procedures are often performed by the surgeons favorite method instead of the most indicated one. It is astonishing , that for the implant placement most advanced techniques are used - cone beam, navigation templates etc. - whereas augmentation procedures are often based on a high percentage of improvisation.
