Faina, I fully agree with Dr. Salama that eliminating the mock up can be a huge mistake...especially because patients really need to be in the 'approval' stage right from the start...and not wait until the temporary stage. You always want your patient's approval before you prepare teeth. I have had patients who were so 'picky' that I found it best not to take the case and only found out when we did a trial smile.

Faina; Do not skip the Mock-up Phase. It is Critical for minimizing tooth prepatation not ONLY for use as a Trial Smile for patient acceptance. We ultimately utilize this Mock up as a GUIDE for minimal tooth preparation and keeping us in enamel. Dr. Salama

Thanks, Dr.Gurel, excellent lecture. My questions is if it possible to skip the first mock up stage, because the lab is making wax up, you do temporaries, and the patient can see the possible outcome from temporaries?
