ANYTIME Immediate Loading Utilizing a Minimally Invasive Approach in Posterior Maxilla

Description:
This lecture will highlight a modified approach to the management of the posterior maxilla using a minimally invasive approach to sinus lift and augmentation. It will also focus on a modified implant placement protocol for obtaining and maintaining the ideal primary and secondary stability for immediate loading in the maxillary unilateral posterior area. The long term clinical results of the over 97% success rate for that protocol will be shown. In this lecture, new guidelines and factors for the successful anytime loading in the unilateral posterior maxilla will be discussed.

Nice presentation, I can see that almost all sites at which this technique is used are healed sites, is this a pre-requisite for using this approach. Thanks for sharing you experience.

Dr Young, Thank you for a truly amazing presentation. What I have seen here is contrary to my traditional training regarding placing of implants in periodontally compromised environments and unilateral areas of immediate loading. I would like to know how you would select your patients for these cases?

Titanium Mesh and rhBMP-2 in Ridge Augmentation: Options and Limitations
Titanium mesh has been used in reconstructive surgery and ridge augmentation for several years. The traditional technique involves using cancellous autogenous bone under the mesh scaffold. More recently growth factors and bone substitutes have been utilized as autograft replacements. There are several advantages to using titanium mesh for space maintenance including strength, ease of use, low cost and biocompatibility. However, the difficulty in removing the mesh has led to a search for other space maintenance scaffolds including tenting screws, dense preshaped collagen and porous high-density polyethylene. This webinar will discuss the use of rhBMP-2 for managing horizontal and vertical bone deficiencies with various scaffolds.

Atrophic Posterior Maxillan and Mandible: Alveolar Ridge Reconstruction with Mandibular Block Autografts
Autogenous bone grafts have been used for many years for alveolar ridge augmentation and are still considered to be the gold standard for jaw reconstruction. The use of these grafts with osseointegrated implants was originally discussed by Brånemark et al., who used the iliac crest as the donor site. For repair of most localized alveolar defects, however, bone grafts from the mandible offer advantages over iliac crest grafts. These include the proximity of donor and recipient sites, convenient surgical access, decreased donor site morbidity and decreased cost. This article focuses on posterior maxillary and mandibular osseous augmentation in a staged approach for implant placement. Both horizontal and vertical deficiencies are addressed with the use of symphysis and ramus buccal shelf donor block bone via case presentations.
