Combining Implant Replacement with Esthetic Restorative Dentistry Premium Member Content

Combining Implant Replacement with Esthetic Restorative Dentistry
Achieving predictable anterior implant esthetics is often a challenge for clinicians. The creation of anterior implant restorations with harmonious gingival contour that emulate nature is a fusion of science and art. Understanding the biologic and physiologic limitations of the soft and hard tissue along with proper implant positioning facilitates predictability in both simple and complex esthetic situations. This presentation focuses on current implant treatment philosophies and methodologies for the replacement of missing or failing teeth in the esthetic zone. Equal emphasis is placed on the diagnosis and treatment planning, current protocols for optimal 3D implant positioning, periodontal plastic procedures, bone grafting maneuvers, and prosthetic management for optimal anterior implant esthetics.

Indications of In-Office Treatments: Topical Fluoride, Varnish, Foam and Gels
A study conducted in the 1990s, demonstrated a steady rate of decline of instances of coronal caries through the 1980s. This decline was attributed to an increase in oral health education regarding diet, oral hygiene and an increased awareness about the benefits of applying fluoride-containing topical treatments such as dental sealants varnishes, foams, or gels to the teeth of individuals of all ages in moderate-to-high risk groups for caries. This presentation reviews the history, efficacy, and indications. You will learn the history of all varnishes, differences in fluoride foams and gels as well as which fluorides work best for different patients and practices.

It is evident there are a variety of malocclusion and health concerns that can be treated by orthodontic therapy. Factors from treating systemic issues to minor tooth movement can be addressed specifically to the patients’ needs and desires. Not only is it important for the dental team to be aware that orthodontics can improve one’s quality and longevity of life, but that the knowledge of current orthodontic therapy treatment modalities available will enhance the overall comprehensive care the patient receives.

Back to the Future: Feldspathic Veneers & Zirconia Layering Techniques
Full monolithic zirconia with external stain technique is one of the popular preference techniques used today. There are many selections of multi-layered zirconia disks and blocks available in the market, which enable dental technicians to produce faster and more esthetic results. When it comes to anterior fabrication, however, full monolithic is not always the best option to process the case. There are many varieties; unique translucencies and characterization that can be seen naturally, making it nearly impossible to achieve with just an external stain technique. That is to say, in order to achieve a natural and lifelike fabrication, a layering technique must be done. This lecture will speak about all ceramic layering technique with current technology of digital tools and how these technologies may be able to assist us.

Introducing Choukroun’s Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) to the Reconstructive Surgery Milieu

Introducing Choukroun’s Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) to the Reconstructive Surgery Milieu
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), developed in France by Choukroun et al (2001), is a second generation platelet concentrate widely used to accelerate soft and hard tissue healing. Its advantages over the better known platelet-rich plasma (PRP) include ease of preparation/application, minimal expense, and lack of biochemical modification (no bovine thrombin or anticoagulant is required). PRF is a strictly autologous fibrin matrix containing a large quantity of platelet and leukocyte cytokines. This article serves as an introduction to the PRF “concept” and its potential clinical applications.

CAD/CAM Solutions for Minimally Invasive All-Ceramic Rehabilitation of Extended Erosive Lesions

CAD/CAM Solutions for Minimally Invasive All-Ceramic Rehabilitation of Extended Erosive Lesions
Dental erosion is a global health problem that can lead to significant functional and esthetic impairments of the affected patients. Treatment of sever cases with augmented loss of the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) represents a challenge for both the dental team and the patient. CAD/CAM technology was used in the presented case to analyze the inter-occlusal space. The case report documents a practical, digital approach and discusses the advantages related to treatment time, ease of treatment, and predictability.
