Conservative Treament of the Edentulous Mandible
Description:
This presentation includes a candid discussion of the oral health care needs of the approximately 40 million edentulous adults in the USA. Many of these patients cannot afford or are too debilitated to have extensive oral care. There are several extensive and very expensive treatments for these patients that are currently being heavily promoted by companies and the lay press. However, there are less expensive and highly successful ways to treat many more of these patients very adequately including:
• Two conventional diameter implants in the canine areas followed by an overdenture
• Four small diameter implants in the anterior region followed by an overdenture
• Four conventional diameter implants, two in the anterior region and two in the posterior region followed by an overdenture

This must be considered in some patients unwilling or unable to proceed with more sophisticated or expensive procedures to resolve denture issues or with limited bone. But it is often over utilized by doctors with limited or minimal implant training. Dr. Salama

Progressive Bone Adaptation of Titanium Implants During and After Orthodontic Load in Humans
The aim of the present work was the evaluation of implant stability and periimplant bone reaction by histologic and clinical evaluation after therapeutic orthodontic loads.
