Creative Next Generation Surgical Tools and Solutions for the Implant Practice
Description:
Modern Bone Grafting has become more predictable than ever before. Recent developments in CBCT 3D Diagnosis and the utilization of bioactive modifiers such as PRGF, PRF and BMP-2 have stimulated further advances in Surgical techniques as well as a New Age Surgical Armamentarium to maximize the efficiencies and success of these sophisticated procedures. This lecture will highlight this developement, specifically New Age Tools which offer creative and effective solutions for space maintenance, autologous bone harvesting, atraumatic implant removal, and screw fixation. Creative mini-titanium mesh shapes(CTI), autologous bone harvesting drills (ACM Auto Chip Maker), counter torque implant removal systems as well as tenting and fixation screw systems will be discussed and featured.

Ola; thank you. For Vertical augmentation of 4mm or less I prefer Ramus, greater than 4mm chin. I do CTG after bone augmentation UNLESS the tissue is THIN or lack of KT then BEFORE.

Hello DR Maurice. I would like to ask which had better results chin or ramus graft for vertical ridge augmentation. Also for class 3 do you do soft tissue augmentation as subepithelial connective tissue graft before or after bone augmentation. Thanks alot.

Thanks for the beatiful presentation Maurice.when you can, like always do one vertical incision in esthetic zone?Alessandro

Maurice Salama - (8/13/2012 8:50 PM)
Amir; Yes, you must take the opportunity to reposition the flap apically at 2nd stage. The incision is made split-thickness towards the lingual of the crest of the ridge and moved apically and sutured laterally. Thanks for your kind words and for your participation. We hope to see you in Vegas.
regards. Dr. S

Since flap was advanced coronally, in case needed do you apically reposition the muco-ginginval line in second stage? If so could you describe shortly?- thank you deeply for dentalxp -- Amir

Biologic Strategies to Enhance Clinical and Aesthetic Success in Oral Implantology
This webinar will discuss clinical strategies for treatment of the complex implant site involving bone grafting and implant placement. Our understanding of cellular pathways, and our ability to control the wound response, expands our capacity to effect better aesthetic outcomes and compress treatment time. The reduction of the inflammatory phase of tissue regeneration speeds up osseointegration, prevents crestal bone loss, maintains papillary form, increases the density of peri-implant bone and increases tissue biotype. This enhanced tissue response allows us to predictably treat even the most complex surgical cases, compress time to final reconstruction, and to maintain these favorable tissue outcomes over an extended period of time. The use of dental implants with advanced biologic features and the incorporation autologous growth factors will be demonstrated.

Ridge Expansion, GBR & Meshes: Decision Making in Clinical Practice
A variety of bone augmentation procedures are currently available at use to the clinician. Techniques of variable complexity can essentially yield favorable results.
The choice of technique to utilize however, is often based on defect site presentation and operator comfort level. This presentation will focus on the use of ridge expansion, guided bone regeneration (GBR), and titanium mesh. Merits and indications of each technique will be discussed, and clinical cases will be presented that showcase the decision making process involved in treatment planning.

Alveolar Ridge Regenerative Strategies: Autogenous Bone vs BMP-2
This clinical based presentation will compare the use of autogenous bone vs BMP-2 for alveolar ridge reconstruction. The science, indications, advantages and disadvantages of each approach will be featured. Single tooth to full arch reconstruction cases will also be shown along with understanding the application of non-resorbable vs resorbable mesh barriers for alveolar ridge reconstruction.

Guided Bone Regeneration Using a Titanium Membrane at Implant Placement: A Case Report and Literature Discussion
Reconstruction of the oral supporting tissues lost by disease or trauma is essential to tooth replacement with dental
implant therapy. This treatment requires evidence based augmentative procedures combined with up-to-date and
current techniques. Guided bone regeneration (GBR) aims to initialize this process of alveolar ridge reconstruction by
utilizing biologically active and supportive materials best coupled to the body’s healing processes. The use of nonresorbable,
titanium membranes can achieve GBR by ensuring graft stability and space maintenance so as to ensure
optimal neovascularization. Hereafter is a case report of a ridge defect reconstructed at implant placement, with the
rationale and current, evidence-based literature discussed.

Socket Gafting with the use of Autologous Bone - an Experimental Study in the Dog
In five beagle dogs, the distal roots of the third and fourth mandibular premolars were removed. The sockets in the right or the left jaw quadrant were grafted with either anorganic bovine bone or with chips of autologous bone harvested from the buccal bone plate. After 3 months of healing, biopsies of the experimental sites were sampled, prepared for buccal–lingual ground sections and examined with respect to size and composition.
