How an Optragate would have made your life a lot easier

Thomas Devlin - (6/16/2018 5:47 PM)

Dr. Wong, could you include some information about the dental codes you would use and what you charge for this procedure? I kept thinking about

Dr. Terence YACOVITCH - (6/7/2018 4:18 PM)

Hard tissue laser better than high speed drill, laser would remove bone virtually bloodlessly and not damage root surface !

Dr. Terence YACOVITCH - (6/7/2018 4:14 PM)

Ivoclar's Optragate would also have clear field isolation and lip retraction.

Fibrin Assisted Soft Tissue Promotion (FASTP)
Soft tissue recession around teeth and implants is an epidemic problem in the field of dentistry. A predictable and long-term soft tissue augmentation outcome is primarily dependent on proper diagnosis, prognosis and treatment planning. Harvesting limitations of autogenous tissue from the palate represent a true challenge when treating patients with multiple recessions or gingival deformities around teeth and dental implants. The Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin (APRF) and injectable platelet-rich fibrin (iPRF) are promising tissue promoters that can be a suitable alternative option.

Acellular Dermal Grafts in the Correction of Gingival Recession: Discovering the Possibilities
Autogenous connective tissue grafts from the palate have been the gold standard for surgically correcting gingival recession for decades. With the advent of newer soft (and hard) tissue allografts, grafting procedures are increasingly predictable, quick, effective, and less painful for patients. In this presentation, follow the evolution of root coverage surgery from autogenous grafts to the more contemporary alternatives of today. Discover how these newer materials are making it easier for patients to say "yes" and how their results can impact the level of esthetics, periodontal health and predictable restorative dentistry our profession can deliver.

Tissue Engineering and Platelet Derived Growth Factors: Evidence Based Therapy Premium Member Content

Tissue Engineering and Platelet Derived Growth Factors: Evidence Based Therapy
Platelet derived growth factors are now routinely utilized in reconstructive therapy. This presentation describes very detailed and evidence based guidelines for clinicians interested in enhancing their abilities in tissue engineering, especially as it relates to bone augmentation. Specifically, while successful bone augmentation requires the standard surgical parameters of space maintenance, low pressure on the grafts and tension-free flap closure, optimization of this goal requires management and enhancement of the local biological conditions with growth factors. Towards that end, platelet concentrates through the constant release of growth factors are able to promote and enhance new vascularization, provide plasma protein, normal lipidemia, as well as increased collagen and fibrin activity.

The Root Submergence Technique at Single Tooth Sites to Short-Span Edentulous Sites: A Step-By-Step Partial Extraction Therapy Protocol
Submerging roots for ridge preservation was the earliest partial extraction therapy and has been described since the 1970s. Despite the approximately 47 animal and human studies published since, an updated and contemporary step-by-step protocol has not yet been provided. This technique report describes in detail how to manage submerged roots at single tooth sites and at short-span edentulous areas.

A Periodontal-Restorative Approach to Achieving an Esthetic Outcome in Worn Dentition

A Periodontal-Restorative Approach to Achieving an Esthetic Outcome in Worn Dentition
Esthetic dentistry demands more of clinicians than just simeple knowledge of tooth anatomy and the proper dimensions of teeth. Dentists must also know and understand the proper positions of the teeth in relation to the gingiva, the lips, and entire face. Esthetic measurements are not the only important factors. Other considerations need to include the patient's phonetics and function. A example of a situation where this knowledge and awareness is imperative is in the case of the worn dentition (eg, attrition, abrasion, etc). This article addresses a simple case of how a patients esthetics have been compromised as a result of erosion as well as parafunctional activity (toothbrush abrasion) and how the patient was eventually restored with an interdisciplinary approach between the restorative dentist and the periodontal surgeon.
