Dr. Fetner discusses the essentials of placing a Ankylos Implant in the esthetic zone. The key is subcrestal positioning to allow maximum facial bone and implants with smaller diameters. Variable subcrestal positioning is also discussed leading to a wider use of stock abutments. Provisionals and tissue management is emphasized. Proper implant placement, site section and abutment management has been shown to result in very favorable outcomes. Dr. Fetner supports his clinical technique with recent publications that he and others have contributed.

“IPG-DET Technique” The Evolution of New Age Concept
“IPG” DET protocol: a pioneer technique of internal bone regeneration in the sinus without the need of sinus floor elevation (SFE) Patients suffering from maxilla deficiencies are treated with extensive bone transplantation and Sinus Floor Elevation (SFE) procedures, in order to accomplish a successful and stable dental implantation. In 2014, “IPG” DET – called the Ioannis P. Georgakopoulos Dentist Education Institute Technique – has been proven a solid and reliable alternative to SFE. Actually, “IPG” DET is a well-established, simple, safe, efficient and cost-effective dental implantation protocol that combines a complex of fibrin, concentrated growth factors and CD34+ stem cells (fibrin membrane) along with bone grafting and intentional perforation of the Schneider’s membrane towards a rapid implant insertion.

Combination Therapies in the Esthetic Zone: Steps for Success
This presentation will cover the critical aspects to consider for deciding the sequence and implementation of combination therapies. Successful esthetic zone treatment must begin with a well thought-out space management plan. This plan involves a three dimensional adjustment of the periodontal attachment, with a possibility of root submergence and partial extraction technique. Following this, a decision is made concerning the timing and position of implant placement, and an adequate hard tissue foundation can be restored using GBR with titanium mesh and collagen membrane. On top of this base a more efficient soft tissue augmentation and adjustment completes the requirements for success in the esthetic zone.

Crestal Bone Stability around Implants with Horizontally Matching Connection after Soft Tissue Thickening: A Prospective Clinical Trial
It has been shown that thin mucosal tissues may be an important factor in crestal bone loss etiology. Thus, it is possible that mucosal tissue thickening with allogenic membrane might reduce crestal bone loss. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate how implants with traditional connection maintain crestal bone level after soft tissue thickening with allogenic membrane. After 1-year follow-up, implants in group A had 1.65 1 0.08-mm bone loss mesially and 1.81 1 0.06 mm distally. Group B had 0.31 1 0.05 mm mesially and 0.34 1 0.05 mm distally. C group implants experienced bone loss of 0.44 1 0.06 mm mesially and 0.47 1 0.07 mm distally.
