Implant Risks, Complications, and Solutions in the Esthetic Zone - Part 2 of 3
Immediate tooth replacement therapy has become a mainstream treatment modality for single tooth implants in the esthetic zone. The balance between achieving primary stability, implant diameter, and gap distance is a delicate dance yet essential for survival and esthetics. However, esthetic risks and complications exist such as apical socket perforation, loss of labial plate thickness over time, and loss of the interdental papilla due to proximity issues with tooth-to-implant distance following placement. An inverted body-shift implant design concept as solutions to these challenges will be presented and supported by studies that scientifically supports, validates, and reinforces the biologic principles in design that ultimately enhances esthetic outcomes in modern day implantology.

Management of Narrow and Short Ridge Dimensions in Implant Dentistry: New Minimally Invasive Concepts Premium Member Content

Management of Narrow and Short Ridge Dimensions in Implant Dentistry: New Minimally Invasive Concepts
The management of narrow and short ridge dimensions has posed a great concern for most implantologists. Often large GBR or block augmentation procedures are suggested with high morbidity but this lecture presents more minimally invasive options to restore these ridge challenges. Ridge Expansion with motorized drills as well as the utilization of ultra-short and wider implants to avoid sinus and nerve proximity challenges will be discussed. The role of blood born bioactive modifiers, specifically PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) to enhance wound healing will similarly be highlighted.

This introduction gives a brief history of implant dentistry and the foundation of the modern era based on osseointegration. The principles of osseointegration will be outlined along with a detailed review of the healing sequence associated with it and how that directly influences clinical decisions. In addition, a review is presented of implant biomaterials and surfaces and how they influence the process of osseointegration.

A GRAFT-LESS Approach to Implant Dentistry Premium Member Content

A GRAFT-LESS Approach to Implant Dentistry
Vertical bone augmentation techniques are more invasive and success rates often vary according to the surgical expertise of the clinician. There has been a trend over time towards minimally invasive treatment options in implant dentistry. This approach attempts to avoid more complicated procedures involving bone augmentation for implant placement. This presentation discusses a “graft less” treatment philosophy that emphasizes the use of less demanding augmentation techniques for the purpose of placing short implants in atrophic posterior sites.

Crestal Bone Changes Around Implants With Reduced Abutment Diameter Placed Non-Submerged and at Subcrestal Positions: A 1-Year Radiographic Evaluation
There is limited information about two-part implants placed in subcrestal positions. The present study reported a minimal loss of mineralized hard tissue around dental implants placed non-submerged and at subcrestal positions. In addition, these implants had hard tissue healing that extended onto the implant shoulders on most of the observed implants.
