Immediate Loading in Everyday Dentistry - Part 1

Description:
In part 1 of this instructional series, Dr. Henry Salama describes a detailed protocol for implementing an immediate loading protocol for the fully edentulous mandible. Dr. Salama: What do you think about the OSU Frame technique described by Dr. McGlumphy for immediate loading in hybrid prosthesis in 3 days ?

henry salama - (2/5/2010 11:37 AM)

Hi Marcello! Wecome to the Dentalxp community. There is no reason to make a hybrid prosthesis if you have good ridge form and do not require pink material to replace a deficient ridge. With a good bone volume you can still use the same protocol and end up with a ceramo-metal restoration, screw retained or cemented over abutments. As to courses in Atlanta, we are always scheduling courses given by our experts as well as members of Team Atlanta. Check the courses tab in the tool bar to get more information or use this link:

Good luck.

excellent proceddure Dr Henry! my name is marcello;we shake hands in conrad resort(punta del este,Uruguay, remember me?) I have this case of mine quite similar and was wondering if this is the only solution for mandibular full arch or if it's possible to make not an hibrid one? i guess i'm lack of space,no place for pink material. By the way,is there any chance to make any training course there in Atlanta with u people? thanks a lot!

Informed Consent: Dr. Dennis Tarnow Part 5 of 6
In this 5th of a 6 part interview with Dr. Dennis Tarnow, the very important topic of informed consent is discussed. Key components of this very broad based topic that are discussed include identifying the chief complaint, the patient 's expectations as well as informing the patient about long-term ramifications of a chosen therapeutic modality

The Science Behind the Papillae - Part 2 of 2
In 1992, Tarnow’s study on the effect of the distance from the contact point to the crestal bone on the presence of interproximal dental papilla gave us a new and ground breaking insight into the management of pink aesthetics. Later Team Atlanta furthered that study, analyzing the different measures between teeth, implants and pontics, giving us an even deeper understanding of how bone height influences in papilla growth. In my understanding, this study was one of the most important in the history of dentistry due to its true crossover between dental surgery and the prosthodontic field, combining aesthetics, oral rehabilitation and oral surgery in treatment planning. Never has interdisciplinary dentistry been more valued. This lecture will go over past and present techniques that can be performed to achieve an optimal aesthetic outcome in the managing of soft tissue.

A Complete 3D Strategy to Esthetic Cross Arch Restorations: Guide Surgery & Soft Tissue Interface Management with CAD-CAM Restorations
I will highlight the benefits achievable through the use of guided planning, guided laboratory procedures and guided surgeries, while maintaining the fundamental principles of osseointegration. My ten years of scientifically proven experience and clinical follow-up in guided surgery and CAD/CAM biomimetic restorations will be shared with the audience to support clinical protocols as well as practical tips and tricks with case studies demonstrating each clinical scenario. New surgical and prosthetic improvements and novel proof-of-concept techniques to enhance the natural soft tissue integration will be presented. Viewers will also broaden their knowledge of hard and soft tissue surgical management through the guided surgery, discovering the latest implant designs and prosthetic interfaces designed to achieve an ideal soft tissue seal and bone level over time.

Current Concepts for the Preservation of the Post-Extraction Alveolar Ridge Premium Member Content

Current Concepts for the Preservation of the Post-Extraction Alveolar Ridge
After tooth extraction, bone resorption of varying amounts always occurs as the edentulous site of the alveolar process undergoes both qualitative and quantitative changes. Different techniques have been presented in literature in order to preserve the post-extraction site, including the use of barrier membranes, tri-dimensional matrix and bone fillers. An “open-healing” approach is nowadays commonly used, combining a proper management of soft tissues with biological integration of biomaterials. Once hard tissue has been successfully augmented, an adequate soft tissue thickness becomes mandatory in order to create healthy and stable peri-implant tissues. An innovative volume-stable collagen matrix provides the opportunity to treat soft tissue defects around implants as an alternative to connective tissue graft.

Placing Dental Implants and/or Natural Tooth Restorations in the Esthetic Zone
A key goal of aesthetic/cosmetic dentistry is the fabrication of maintainable, aesthetic, and functional prostheses that preserve the health of the teeth and soft tissues. Advances in restorative dentistry have significantly improved the clinician’s ability to deliver predictable treatment. When implants are indicated, osseointegration is an added factor that is essential for success. It is universally accepted that implant dentistry is a restorative-driven treatment with a surgical component. Whether…

Nifedipine-induced Gingival Enlargemenr Around Dental Implants
Calcium channel-blocking agents are used extensively for the management of cardiovascular conditions, including angina pectoris, coronary artery spasm, cardiac arrhythmias, and hypertension. Gingival overgrowth around natural teeth has been previously reported in the literature with patients taking calcium channel-blocking agents. This clinical report describes hyperplasia of tissues around titanium dental implants in a patient taking Nifedipine along with the multiphasic approach to treating this…
