so good

Howard Gluckman - (8/28/2014 4:25 PM)

brilliant I love it. I will definitely be getting some of these.

Maurice Salama - (9/27/2012 2:01 PM)

Shane; I believe that vital autogenous bone to be somewhat better than any other bone products although we can achieve similar results with alternative bone grafting products such as allograft, xenograft and some synthetics. Surgical skill, proper technique and surrounding bone walls are also key to success.

Dr. Salama,
Do you feel harvesting particulate grafts intra-orally have a big advantage over particulate allograft materials? What differences are you seeing?

Thanks,

Shane

Maurice Salama - (8/10/2012 4:51 PM)

Wleed; 250-450 RPM with sterile water or saline.

Wleed Haq - (8/10/2012 3:38 PM)

Hi Maurice, what rpm do you use and do you use saline irrigation? Would you consider using it for osteotomy preparation for eg short Implants like BTI?

Maurice Salama - (7/18/2012 6:51 PM)

Mike and Shane; The drill size I use is Large 6.0mm but I use 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0mm as well. Typically they can last around 5 times before replacement. Great tool. You will not be disappointed. You can purchase on this site on the Neobiotech Product page.
Good luck Dr. Salama

Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration Premium Member Content

Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration
The IDR (Immediate Dentoalveolar Restoration) technique has been used for over 6 years. With it, we can reconstruct socket tissue losses in the same surgical session of dental extraction, implant placement and provisional crown installation, minimizing the treatment time and morbidity of the procedures. In this presentation we discuss the hard and soft tissues stability when the IDR technique is applied in different types of periodontal biotypes and in sites with different defect levels. The clinical, radiographic and tomographic follow-up of some cases is shown, allowing us to evaluate the maintenance of gingival architecture and peri-implant bone stability around the implants.

Modern GBR Concepts, Flap Design and Materials as an Alternative to Autologous Bone
This lecture will provide a decision tree to assist the practitioner to best choose devices and biomaterials to achieve successful outcomes in bone regenerative treatment. Moreover, a straight-forward review of the step-by-step surgical maneuvers will be given, like incision design, flap management, membrane fixation strategies, and tension-free suturing technique. in the final part of the lecture, strategies to simplify the regenerative protocols will be presented with the intention to decrease morbidity and complications while boosting patients’ innate healing response.

Is There One or More Reasons to Optimize the PRF & PRP Protocols? Future Trends in Dentistry, Orthopedics and Facial Aesthetics
The “Advanced” PRF (A-PRF) and “Injectable” PRF (I-PRF) protocols were designed with this new concept. Indications are numerous in all medical fields where we need regeneration: bone, cartilage, skin etc... However, the use of growth factors is not a guarantee of long term stability, as they are active only at the beginning of the process. Numerous rules of tissue engineering have to be applied to maintain the regenerated bone through an adequate blood supply: this lecture is an enlightenment on the biological and mechanical conditions for long term stability of the bone: “grafted bone” or “bone around implants”.

Combination Therapies in the Esthetic Zone: Steps for Success Premium Member Content

Combination Therapies in the Esthetic Zone: Steps for Success
This presentation will cover the critical aspects to consider for deciding the sequence and implementation of combination therapies. Successful esthetic zone treatment must begin with a well thought-out space management plan. This plan involves a three dimensional adjustment of the periodontal attachment, with a possibility of root submergence and partial extraction technique. Following this, a decision is made concerning the timing and position of implant placement, and an adequate hard tissue foundation can be restored using GBR with titanium mesh and collagen membrane. On top of this base a more efficient soft tissue augmentation and adjustment completes the requirements for success in the esthetic zone.

Fibrin-Guided Bone Regeneration: Guidelines of a Simple, Predictable, & Low Risk Technique Premium Member Content

Fibrin-Guided Bone Regeneration: Guidelines of a Simple, Predictable, & Low Risk Technique
This lecture is focused on an effective regenerative approach, but at low knowledge. The goal is to provide a new skill in favor of well-established techniques. The Fibrin Sealant (FS) is an additional clot of human origin. It has adhesive, sealant and inductive action stimulating hard and soft-tissue regeneration. The FS, mixed with bone chips and biomaterials, allows a better handling of the graft that, becoming plastic and moldable, adapts perfectly to bony defects without dispersion of granules. It’s effective also on wound protection achieving a faster healing of soft-tissue. This approach is excellent in the socket preservation and in the peri-implant regeneration on "closed" sites where the implants are inside the defects.

Flapless Postextraction Socket Implant Placement in the Esthetic Zone: Part 1. The Effect of Bone Grafting and/or Provisional Restoration on Facial-Palatal Ridge Dimensional Change

Flapless Postextraction Socket Implant Placement in the Esthetic Zone: Part 1. The Effect of Bone Grafting and/or Provisional Restoration on Facial-Palatal Ridge Dimensional Change
The dental literature has reportted vertical soft tissue changes that can occur with immediate implant placement, bone grafting, and provisional restoration ranging from a gain or loss of 1.0mm. However, little is known of the effects of facial-palatal collapse of the ridge due to these clinical procedures. Based upon treatment modalities rendered, an ensuing contour change can occur with significant negative esthetic consequences. The results of a retrospective clinical cohort study evaluating the change in horizontal ridge dimension associated with implant placement in anterior postextraction sockets are presented for four treatment groups. Therefore, it is recommended to place a bone graft and contoured healing abutment or provisional restoration at the time of flapless postextraction socket implant placement.

The Bio-Derm Ridge Plumping Technique for Pontic Site Development

The Bio-Derm Ridge Plumping Technique for Pontic Site Development
Seibert Class III apicocoronal and buccolingual alveolar ridge defects with associated gingival mucosal atrophy and absence of interdental papillae are common in edentulous areas within the anterior esthetic zone of the maxilla. Normal emergence profiles, critical to achieving esthetic restorations, require restoration of normal hard and soft tissue morphology, including re-establishment of adjacent interdental papillae.
