Ridge Deformities in the Esthetic Zone require a mutlidisciplinary approach to reconstruction. Preservation and Augmentation are often unsuccessful in clinical practice and we are then faced with a significant challenge to reconstruct these deficiencies. This presentation by three members of a single reconstruction team suggests recent changes to their armamentarium to meet these challenges. A Surgeon, Prosthodontist and Ceramist together detail specific tools to address these daunting clinical issues. Timing of Immediate Implant placement, Root Submergence for pontic enhancement, 3D vertical ridge augmentation and artificial prosthetic gingval reconstruction are highlighted and suggested as to when they may be best utilized. 4 different scientific papers are discussed which were published by this team and available to you on DentalXP.

3D Immediate Transformation of The Fully Edentulous Patient
Immediate loading of threaded dental implants with fixed restorations has been a documented treatment modality for more than 20 years. In that time, materials, surgical protocols, treatment methods and restorative options have evolved so that these procedures can be now be considered routine and predictable. The original protocols required an abundant number of implants in large volumes of dense bone, laborious provisional restorations and expensive precious metal based final prosthesis. Current methods permit treatment of patients with limited bone, streamlined provisionalization methods, and new materials and technology to provide predictable and efficient solutions. This presentation will provide an overview of some of the key principles required for successful immediate loading of fully edentulous patients. It will also demonstrate some of the newer concepts and materials and options for efficient and routine treatment.

Implant therapy is in the age of being increasingly aesthetically driven, not merely restorative. With the increasing popularity of immediate implants, particularly with anterior tooth extraction, the relevance of socket changes following extraction has come to the fore. Contrary to what was originally believed, the installation of an immediate implant does not arrest bone loss, and immediate implants in the aesthetic zone are prone to recession of bone and soft tissue as a result of bundle bone resorption which is obligatory with tooth extraction.

A New Implant Design for Crestal Bone Preservation: Initial Observations and Case Report
Following the exposure and restoration of two-piece dental implants, some change in the vertical level of the peri-implant crestal bone height has been reported. This change in crestal bone height has not, however, negatively impacted long-term implant success. This article describes how the concept of platform switching is incorporated into a new implant design as a means of reducing or eliminating the occurrence of crestal bone loss.
