Thanks Maurice!, as you of course know there is no evidence to support 4 vs 6 or more implants (Martin Gross review is very interesting about this). I have been treating patients both with 4 and with 6-8 implants and personally I haven't seen much differences in bone resorption pattern. In n my own experience I have seen patients with bone loss around 8 implants as well as around 4, and I have seen patients with a very stable bone level on 4 as well as on 8 implants. it would be probably difficult to assume that this differences are related to occlusion, as you are well aware there are so many different factors playing a role (implant type, implant positioning related to crest, residual bone volume, surgical management etc.). So occlusion is probably just one factor to take into account when choosing the number of implants to support a full arch prostheses. Of course in a patient with a history of high occlusal stress I would prefer to have more implants than less, as well as an old 40kg lady is probably a different load to implants than a young 100kg man. Unfortunately we still relay on personal preferences and opinions rather than evidence on this topic.... thanks again Maurice.

Immediate implants have several advantages over traditional phased implant placement. Shortened treatment time and a single surgical procedure are among some of these benefits. Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Peri-Implant Disease
Although some risk factors of peri-implant disease are well defined, the lack of efficient and predictable approaches to treat peri-implantitis has created difficulty in the management of those complications. The aim of this review was the evaluate the reliability of the diagnosis methods and to provide a set of guidelines to treat peri-implant disease. A search of PubMed and a hand search of articles related to peri-implant diseases were conducted up to August 2013. A summary of the current methods for the diagnosis of peri-implantitis, its potential risk factors, and a flow chart to guide the clinical management of these conditions are presented.

The aim of the study was to identify the different techniques of cementation (half filling, practice abutment, and venting) that will reduce the amount of retained cement and the effect of these techniques on retention of implant supported prostheses. The venting and practice abutment techniques are suitable methods of reducing retained excess cement with optimal retention values.
