Protocols for Aesthetic Zone Management: From Maintenance to 3D Reconstruction
Description:
Managing aesthetic zone with dental implants is one of the most challenging and demanding treatments in dentistry due to biological limitations.
From Sockets type I to healed ridges with hard and soft tissue deficiencies, everyday clinicians may face different situations to manage in the aesthetic zone. When we are talking about rebuilt and have long term success, autogenous hard and soft tissue still are the gold standard as the Socket shield technique promises to be to prevent bucal collapse in Immediate Implants.
During the lecture the author will systematize how to face each different clinical situation, utilizing different autogenous tissues combined with a micro surgical approach, in order to have the best healing patterns and scar-less surgery.

The "Modified Tunnel" Technique and the development of the Lateral Tunnel Approach
The "Modified Tunnel" technique is a method of esthetic connective tissue grafting that protects the interdental papillae. First published in 1999, this lateral tunnel approach uses vertical incisions on both sides of the treatment area. These vertical incisions facilitate placement and positioning of the graft over the root surfaces without the need to disturb the interdental papillae. This technique is very useful in esthetic areas and those that involve several teeth. An acellular dermal connective tissue allograft is an excellent choice of graft material to use with this technique.

Esthetic Management for Compromised Extraction Sites - Part 1 of 2
Missing soft tissue is the main reason for compromised results in the aesthetic zone. But since the soft tissue has to be supported by a sufficient amount of bone, our focus has also to be on bone. Due to the fact that no bone-preservation technique (at the time of tooth extraction) available today, gives us the perfect result we need, augmentation procedures are still needed.
Appropriate bone and soft tissue engineering in all three dimensions enhances the aesthetic performance of long-lasting restorations that blend in well and emerge from the periimplant sulcus in harmony with the neighboring teeth.

Plastic-Esthetic Periodontal and Implant Surgery: A Microsurgical Approach - Part 1
This 2 part presentation is a comprehensive overview of the principles, indications, and clinical techniques of plastic-esthetic periodontal and implant microsurgery, focusing especially on minimal soft tissue trauma and maximally perfect wound closure. Microsurgery provides clinically relevant advantages over conventional macro-surgical concepts for regenerative and plastic-esthetic periodontal surgery, especially in the all-important esthetic zone. The microsurgical principles and procedures presented will described using high resolution multimedia.

Innovative Sequencing for Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Treatment
Smile enhancement therapy has become an important facet of the everyday aesthetic practice. Aesthetic evaluation utilizing facial aesthetic design to diagnose tooth position demands effective communication between the periodontal-restorative team.
This presentation will review innovative sequencing techniques for interdisciplinary cases which require aesthetic crown lengthening for the treatment of excessive gingival display, and for gingival augmentation for root coverage, and the correction of poor gingival quality. Immediate implant placement with immediate non–loaded provisional fabrication will also be reviewed.

Surgical & Restorative Management in the Aesthetic Zone
Very often anterior tissue and tooth deficiencies require a multi-disciplinary approach to correct. This presentation reviews several classic techniques in managing these challenging cases including; Orthodontic extrusion, soft tissue and hard tissue augmentation and restorative selection. A quantifiable strategy and case selection is presented as well as several options that should be considered.

The Socket-Shield Technique to Support the Buccofacial Tissues at Immediate Implant Placement
Tooth loss and subsequent ridge collapse continue to burden restorative implant treatment. Careful management
of the post-extraction tissues is needed to preserve the alveolar ridge. In-lieu of surgical augmentation to correct a
ridge defect, the socket-shield technique offers a promising solution. As the root submergence technique retains the
periodontal attachment and maintains the alveolar ridge for pontic site development, this case report demonstrates
the hypothesis that retention of a prepared tooth root section as a socket-shield prevents the recession of tissues
buccofacial to an immediately placed implant.
The socket-shield technique
is a highly promising addition to clinical implant dentistry and this case report is among the first to demonstrate the
procedure in clinical practice with a 1-year follow up.

The Aesthetic Smile: Diagnosis and Treatment
Until recently, dentists' and the public's concept of dental aesthetics was necessarily limited to alterations of the teeth themselves. Dentists concerned themselves with changing the position, the shape and the color of the teeth -basically restoring missing units or enhancing those already present. For the most part the dentist was forced to accept the pre-existing relationship between the three components of the smile; the teeth, the gingival scaffold and the lips.

A Review of Dental Suturing for Optimal Soft-Tissue Management
Establishing nontension primary wound closure of various softtissue flaps is paramount for optimal postsurgical wound healing. Surgical procedures that require clinical flap manipulation such as those used with traditional periodontal therapy, periodontal plastic cosmetic surgery, hard- and soft-tissue regeneration, and the excision of pathologic tissue also require excellence in execution and thorough understanding of the various techniques of surgery, suturing, and the materials currently available to…
