"Real World Cosmetic Dentistry", Design, Preparation, Completion, & Patient Impact
Description:
The clinician's role in cosmetic dentistry is to evaluate the patient dentally, facially & emotionally.
The design of the smile creates the path and ideal communication between the doctor, patient and lab technician.
It is this process that allows for precision in preparation of the teeth and staging the smile within the lip perimeter and face.
Digital scanning and 3D software allows us to frame the smile and to communicate our design to the mouth.
Minimally invasive procedures from tooth prep to gingivectomy to frame the tooth shapes and gingival margin to the lipline will be discussed.
Provisionals allow us to test our design prior to lab processing the veneers and crowns for final insertion.
This multimedia presentation will highlight these stages of design and preparation as well as the vitally important
process of patient management and expectations. Video and high quality photos as well as step by step process and tips
will be provided.

Occlusion - What Else?
Occlusion-Confusion, most of the dentist feel this way. Occlusion is one of the most important part of dentistry but also the most controversy. The balance and the restore of function of the stomatognathic system is often an everyday challenge during most dental treatments. For these two distinct reasons the dentist needs to study and fully understand the normal function of the TMJoints, understand how the mandible rests against the cranium in a most favourable position, and of course how occlusion and any dental prosthetic restorations should be adjusted without jeopardising the stability of the stomatognathic system.

The Hidden Value of Digital Radiography for Caries Detection
Digital radiography allows the dentist to use powerful image analysis tools to extract information from the image that might otherwise be missed by visual inspection alone. Historically interproximal caries detection is done by visually inspecting the radiograph for evidence of a radiolucency produced by the decay and visually determining if the decay is deep enough that a restoration is required.

Digital Impression Workflow & In-Office Milling Using CS Solutions
This course will describe a new reality in the creation of CAD –CAM generated restorations. Carestream dental has created a system which allows the user to generate ceramic restorations in office or through an internet portal to a dental laboratory. The system will allow dentist to create single unit ceramic restoration, implant abutments, printed models for orthodontics, and in the future precision implant surgical guides. The course will cover the CS3500 camera acquisition unit, its use, and export of images to the Restore software for restoration design to be milled in office, or export the image file to a desired dental milling laboratory. The design phase using the Restore software and the CS 3000 milling unit will be covered in depth so the viewer will be familiar with the CS system so they will be able to fabricate a milled ceramic restoration in either an open format, milling laboratory or a closed format in their office.

The Trial Smile Experience
Have you ever thought that if your patients only knew how much a smile makeover could enhance their faces, they would be interested in cosmetic dentistry? The Trial Smile Experience is an interactive exercise that demonstrates the facial improvement that your patients can expect to achieve, while building trust and eliminating their fear of the unknown. In addition, the model of the trial smile allows the clinician to communicate the esthetically driven aspects of the treatment plan to their technician and specialists. This tool is sure to create more cosmetic dentistry in your practice, and you will learn:
• When the Trial Smile Experience is most effective
• How to use digital photography for co-discovery with your patients
• Techniques for performing an effective clinical mock up (trial smile)
• How to use the mounted trial smile model and digital images to communicate with your technician and specialists

A Technique for Making Impressions of Deeply Placed Implants
Precise fit between dental implants
and the superstructure is important
for the long term success of implants
and implant-supported prostheses. One factor which may influence the
accuracy of the definitive prosthesis is
the stability of the impression coping
in polymerized impression material.
In some circumstances, an implant
must be placed well below the gingival
margin, meaning that most of the impression
coping will also be situated
subgingivally with no contact with the
impression material. This can result
in reduced stability of the impression
coping, allowing it to rotate when fastening
the implant analog.
This article
describes a simple technique that
involves the use of a roll of composite
resin, tray adhesive, and a small
amount of occlusal registration material
applied around a transfer coping
in a direct implant impression.
