Majority of the cases in the maxilla require some form of sinus grafting or procedures to increase ridge width. Innovations in the field of site preparation using Osseodensification principles and use of Hydraulics for sinus elevations have simplified the procedure of gaining bone volume in such clinical situations. Newer tools and materials have enabled clinicians to offer a minimally invasive transalveolar approach to sinus grafting compared to the lateral window approach. Densification drills have provided the clinicians a solution to optimize and expand the site for implant placement. This presentation will analyze various clinical situations needing ridge and sinus augmentation and provide predictable solutions to achieve high success rates.

Past, Present & Future in Sinus Augmentation: From Lateral Approach to Osseodensification
The lateral window osteotomy (LWO) has been the most frequently utilized and published approach to sinus augmentation, presumably because there are no bone height restrictions and it provides the surgeon with more visual control; it is however, considered to be invasive, time consuming ,expensive and associated with patient morbidity. As a less invasive alternative to the LWO, transcrestal osteotome, balloon and hydrodynamic techniques can obtain a localized elevation of the sinus floor through a 3 - 10 mm diameter crestal osteotomy, minimizing the degree of flap elevation and eliminating the need for preparation of a larger bony window in the lateral aspect of the alveolus. The presentation will show the evolution is sinus augmentation approaches and will focus on current step by step Osseodensification sub crestal sinus elevation with long term follow ups of both clinical and CBCT radiographs.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the survival rate of two diverse implant systems with different implant surfaces with the same geometrical design. In the present study, we achieved clinical success with both kinds of implant surfaces however Bioetched implant surface showed promising results comparable to Tiunite surface of Nobel BioCare Implants. In the future, more case-controlled studies with longer follow-up are needed to validate the results of the present findings.

Sinus Augmentation for Single-Tooth Replacement in the Posterior Maxilla: A 3-Year Follow-up Clinical Report
A technique for single-tooth sinus lift and simultaneous implant placement in the posterior maxilla is presented. Ten hydroxyapatite-coated cylindric implants, 13 to 15 mm in length, were placed together with a composite bone graft of demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft and autogenous bone in 10 adults. Surgical technique and anatomic considerations are discussed. Follow-up of 3 years showed successful function and no cervical bone loss in all patients.

The Effect of Piezoelectric Use on Open Sinus Lift Perforation: A Retrospective Evaluation of 56 Consecutively Treated Cases From Private Practices
The lateral window approach to maxillary sinus augmentation is a well-accepted treatment option in implant dentistry. The most frequent complication reported with traditional techniques has been the perforation of the Schneiderian membrane, with erforation rates ranging from 11% to 56%. The purpose of this retrospective, consecutive case series from two private practices was to report on the rate of Schneiderian membrane perforations and arterial lacerations when a piezoelectric surgical unit was used in conjunction with hand instrumentation to perform lateral window sinus elevations.
