Soft Tissue Donor Selection: “Connective Tissue Grafts Are Not All Created Equal”

Description:
With the evolution of periodontal plastic surgery soft tissue grafting is becoming more and more essential in modern dentistry, whether around natural teeth or dental implants. Many donor grafts have been available to choose from, with autogenous grafts are still being the gold standard, in tissue grafting procedures. This webinar is for clinicians who are interested in different tissue grafts procedures but want to know more about the nature of each graft and what to expect in terms of clinical results. In this webinar we will discuss the differences between different autogenous soft tissue grafts and how to utilize them properly to achieve the best results in various clinical situations.

Excellent presentation. Thank you.

Great presentation As a gp who does implant surgery, this presentation enlightens my understanding of the tuberosity as a predictable source of connective tissue.

Thank you Dr. Salama for your nice feedback, it means a lot coming from you! I don’t prefer the use of ACDM especially around implants due to their tendency to relapse. I would still prefer tuberosity over palatal grafts around implants for their great dimensional stability, knowing soft tissue thickness is even more important around implants for the protection fo the underlying bone. Tuberosity grafts work great as long as we use them with the right thickness.. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share this webinar. Peter

Awesome. Thanks Peter.

Maurice Salama - (6/17/2020 11:54 AM)

Absolutely timely and beautifully presented. Thanks for sharing. What is your preference around implant sites? Tuberosity, CTG palate, or ACDM? Thanks Dr. S

Big Picture Planning: A Comprehensive Surgical and Prosthetic Workflow
This seminar will highlight interdisciplinary aspects of treatment to achieve optimum outcomes in challenging cases. The cases presented range from single tooth replacement in the esthetic zone to full-arch rehabilitation and reconstruction of composite defects with restorative and surgical modalities. Emphasis will be placed on meeting and exceeding patient needs and working as a team in an everyday private practice setting. Surgical modalities presented will include creation of optimum hard and soft tissue architecture as well as peri-implant tissue modification procedures prior, during and after implantation. Diagnostic considerations for prosthetic rehabilitation of failing dentition and composite defects will also be discussed through case presentations.

Protocols for Aesthetic Zone Management: From Maintenance to 3D Reconstruction
Managing aesthetic zone with dental implants is one of the most challenging and demanding treatments in dentistry due to biological limitations. During the lecture the author will systematize how to face each different clinical situation, utilizing different autogenous tissues combined with a micro surgical approach, in order to have the best healing patterns and scar-less surgery.

Fibrin Assisted Soft Tissue Promotion (FASTP) - A New Perspective in Periodontal Plastic Surgery
Soft tissue recession around teeth and implants is an epidemic problem in the field of dentistry. A predictable and long-term soft tissue augmentation outcome is primarily dependent on proper diagnosis, prognosis and treatment planning. Harvesting limitations of autogenous tissue from the palate represent a true challenge when treating patients with multiple recessions or gingival deformities around teeth and dental implants. The Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin (APRF) and injectable platelet-rich fibrin (iPRF) are promising tissue promoters that can be a suitable alternative option.

Bone Augmentation & Vascular Enhancement Concepts: It’s Time to Make it Simple!
Growing bone is fascinating, and clinicians have developed many techniques in that matter, most of them restricted to an elite. Yes, it does take a lot of skills to harvest bone blocks, to stabilize them with screws etc, and without forgetting the soft tissue handling as it can be a real challenge to cover the bone graft especially for a vertical augmentation. The purpose of this presentation is to make the participant think biology first and not mechanic first. A biological thinking will dramatically simplify vertical and/or horizontal bone augmentation procedures. We will also be introducing a new approach for the simplification of soft tissue handling: the Soft Brushing Technique, that will allow the coronal advancement of both buccal and lingual flaps, but also the palatal flap without the need for periosteal releasing incisions.

In this lecture, tips on how to deal with the different types of extraction socket, mostly infected, will be presented. The use of plasma rich in growth factors and the Endoret® (PRGF®) fibrin membrane is a key factor to enhance socket regeneration, post-operative recovery and minimize/treat complications.

Maxillary Anterior Papilla Display During Smiling: A Clinical Study of the Interdental Smile Line

Maxillary Anterior Papilla Display During Smiling: A Clinical Study of the Interdental Smile Line
The purpose of this research was to quantify the presence or absence of interdental papillae during maximum smiling in a patient population aged 10 to 89 years. The visual display of interdental papillae during maximum smiling occurred 380 of the 420 patients examined in this study, equivalent to a 91% occurrence rate. Eighty seven percent of all patients categorized as having a low gingival smile line were found to display the interdental papillae upon smiling. Differences were noted for individual age groups according to the decade of life as well as a trend toward decreasing papillary display with increasing age. The importance of interdental papillae display during dynamic smiling should not be left undiagnosed since it is visible in over 91% of older patients and in 87% of patients with a low gingival smile line, representing a common and important esthetic element that needs to be assessed during smile analysis of the patient.

Connective Tissue Graft Using Alloderm

Connective Tissue Graft Using Alloderm
Gingival recession is a clinical condition encountered in many dental practices during routine patient care. Fortunately, there are a variety of surgical procedures that the clinician can use to address gingival recession and return the patient to optimal health and aesthetics. As dental professionals gain a higher awareness of the available surgical materials and restorative techniques, the success and predictability of treatment for gingival recession on single and multiple adjacent teeth has…

Surgical Veneer Grafting - Compensation for Natural Labial Plate Remodeling After Immediate Implant Placement

Surgical Veneer Grafting - Compensation for Natural Labial Plate Remodeling After Immediate Implant Placement
Contemporary implant therapy aims to provide highly esthetic and predictable treatment outcomes while decreasing treatment duration and complexity. The clinician must therefore be cognizant of circumstances with a predisposition toward esthetic outcomes and treatment plan accordingly. Preservation of the surrounding hard and soft tissues associated with an immediate postextraction socket implant to replace a nonrestorable tooth in the esthetic zone is one of the greatest challenges facing the dental team. A case report of a hopeless maxillary left central incisor in a patient with a thin periodontal phenotype illustrates this new surgical and prosthetic approach. Clinical, radiological, and esthetic parameters were recorded to evaluate primary treatment outcomes.
